Job description

At Xomnia, data science is about solving meaningful challenges - not just building models, but delivering intelligence that performs at scale. As a Data Scientist specializing in Recommendation Systems & Personalization, you'll join a team of passionate experts who thrive on using data to create lasting value.

From personalized recommendation engines to causal impact analysis and reinforcement learning-driven decision systems, your work will span industries like e-commerce, media, finance, and more. Our culture is built on curiosity, shared ownership, and challenging the status quo - with room to grow, experiment, and make a real difference. Are you ready to take on this challenge?

In this role, you'll lead end-to-end data science projects: from ideation and prototyping to model deployment and monitoring. Whether you're optimizing personalization algorithms, measuring causal business impacts, or mentoring clients on best practices, you'll combine deep technical skill with practical impact. Your role

  • Translate business goals into scalable machine learning solutions.
  • Design, prototype, and productionize models that deliver measurable value.
  • Collaborate closely with data engineers, product teams, and stakeholders.
  • Design and deploy scalable recommendation systems.
  • Develop personalization strategies using learn-to-rank, bandit algorithms, and reinforcement learning.
  • Apply causal inference techniques to measure business impact.
  • Build production-ready systems using Python, cloud tools, and MLOps best practices.
  • Apply best practices in versioning, testing, and model monitoring.
  • Stay ahead of the curve by exploring new techniques in reinforcement learning, causal ML, and generative AI for recommendations.
  • Contribute to internal learning sessions and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements

Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Econometrics, or related field, * 3+ years of experience as a Data Scientist, ML Engineer, or similar role, with a focus on recommender systems, personalization, or ranking models.

  • A Master's degree in Computer Science, AI, Econometrics, or a related technical field.
  • Strong foundation in statistics, probability, and applied mathematics.
  • Excellent Python programming skills and experience building deployable models.
  • Experience with cloud environments (Azure, AWS, and/or GCP).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and work well with diverse stakeholders.
  • A proactive mindset: you enjoy learning, sharing, and taking ownership of your work.
  • Fluent in Dutch (required) and English.

Benefits & conditions

  • A yearly compensation between €64,000 - €98,000 (based on 40 hours, incl bonus).
  • €5,000 annual development budget
  • 25 vacation days to recharge fully
  • Flexible working options (combination of office and remote work) and access to a professional network
  • Memorable company trips (Berlin this year!)
  • The opportunity to grow along with our success through Stock Appreciation Rights.
