Job description
A leading manufacturer of metal products is looking for a Design Engineer to join their team at their office based in the Dudley area
The ideal candidate will be a hard-working, adaptable and personable Design Engineer with a strong background in 2D AutoCad, with experience in the sheet metal industry
This is a fantastic opportunity with a leading company who are expanding rapidly, with a goal of doubling their turnover within the next decade
The Design department is currently operating on a straight days shift pattern, on a 40 hour work week, five days in the office, 07:30 - 16:00, * Collaborate with customers and Sales to clarify engineering requirements and specifications

Prepare and release accurate drawings, specifications and production data to support manufacturing and delivery "right first time"

Review work orders and drawings to minimise errors and rework

Use and maintain CAD/CAM systems and records to enable efficient order processing

Support process development, continuous improvement and material optimisation

Assist production teams with process updates, training and in-process quality checks

Help identify and resolve design or specification issues in collaboration with production teams

Contribute to cost control initiatives, value engineering and make-or-buy decisions

Maintain design standards and support standardisation projects

Stay informed on manufacturing capabilities, materials and emerging production techniques

Undertake additional duties within the scope of the role as required
Requirements
- HND or degree in Electrical, Electronic or Mechanical Engineering (preferred)
- Strong communication and customer relationship skills
- Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D) and Radan (2D)
- Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to work
