Data Governance SME

The primary focus of this role is Data Governance strategy and operational implementation across:

• Governance frameworks
• Data ownership & stewardship
• Data quality management
• Metadata management
• Data lineage & cataloguing

While the Microsoft ecosystem is part of the environment, governance expertise is the core requirement., Data Governance Framework & Implementation

• Design, implement, and operationalise enterprise-wide Data Governance frameworks, policies, standards, and procedures
• Establish and support Data Ownership and Data Stewardship models
• Define and implement a Data Governance operating model including roles and responsibilities
• Embed governance principles into business and technology workflows

Data Quality & Conformance

• Define and implement data quality frameworks, rules, controls, and monitoring mechanisms
• Develop and maintain data quality dashboards, scorecards, and KPIs
• Identify, analyse, and mitigate data quality risks and issues
• Support data conformance initiatives across critical data domains

Metadata Management & Data Lineage

• Implement and maintain data catalog, metadata management, and lineage tracking
• Ensure critical data elements are clearly defined, documented, and governed
• Improve data transparency, traceability, and auditability across the enterprise

Stakeholder Engagement & Governance Operations

• Engage with business and technology stakeholders to define governance requirements
• Support and actively participate in Data Governance Councils and Forums
• Drive adoption of governance policies across business functions
• Act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders on governance best practices

• Proven experience implementing end-to-end Data Governance programmes

• Strong hands-on experience with:

• Data Governance frameworks

• Data Quality Management

• Data Stewardship and Ownership models

• Metadata Management

• Data Lineage and Data Catalog implementation

Regulatory & Compliance Knowledge

Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance frameworks including:

• General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
• BCBS 239
• Solvency II
• Relevant local regulatory requirements

Ability to translate regulatory obligations into practical governance controls and processes is essential.

Microsoft Ecosystem Experience

• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Purview

• Experience across the Microsoft Data Platform, including:

• Microsoft Azure

• Azure Synapse Analytics

• Microsoft SQL Server / Azure SQL

• Microsoft Power BI

Master Data Management (Good to Have)

• Exposure to MDM tools such as Profisee
• Understanding of MDM concepts including golden records and data standardisation

Stakeholder & Communication Skills

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing capability
• Experience working with senior business leaders and technical teams
• Excellent communication skills and ability to facilitate governance discussions

Experience Required

• 8-12+ years of experience in Data Management and Data Governance
• 5 + years delivering enterprise-level Data Governance implementations

• Is a recognised Data Governance SME
• Has implemented governance frameworks from scratch
• Brings strong Data Quality and Stewardship expertise
• Is comfortable working closely with business stakeholders onsite
• Has practical experience with Microsoft Purview
• Has exposure to Profisee (good to have, not mandatory)
