Job description

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining hardware and software equipment.
  • Managing and maintaining IP addresses and the IP database (BAM)
  • Providing technical support for peripheral infrastructure (media technology, copiers, printers, projectors, telephony).
  • Providing technical support for courses and other events at the institute.
  • IT support and advice for users.
  • Support in complying with data protection regulations (GDPR) and the university's IT security requirements.
  • Interface to the Central IT Service.
  • Installation and maintenance of project websites (mainly Wordpress),
  • Support for the institute's websites.

We are looking for a, The Institute for Economic and Social History (WISO) at the Faculty of History and Cultural Studies is looking to fill the position of "IT Support Specialist", starting May 1, 2026. The Institute for Economic and Social History (WISO) conducts research and teaching in economic, social, and cultural history in an integrative manner and, in cooperation with other historical institutes, also teaches history. It examines and teaches economic, social, and cultural developments in a global, national, regional, and local context up to the present day. We are a dynamic team and host numerous third-party funded projects financed by national and international funding agencies such as FWF, Jubiläumsfonds, and EU programs. The position is initially limited to one year, but may be converted to a permanent position by mutual agreement.
