Job description
A Senior IT Systems Engineer is a senior technical leader responsible for the architecture, reliability, and security of the company's core IT infrastructure and services. This role goes beyond complex operational support to drive strategic technical initiatives, define best practices, and mentor P5 and P6 engineers. The P7 Engineer owns the technical roadmap for key systems and is accountable for the successful execution of cross-functional projects that enhance the global employee experience and corporate security posture., * Technical Architecture & Strategy: Define the long-term technical vision and architectural standards for core IT platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Okta, JamF, MDM solutions, Networking). Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and align with business growth.
- Automation & Integration Leadership: Lead the development and implementation of advanced automation scripts and API integrations (using Python, Bash, or similar languages) to eliminate repetitive tasks, improve system efficiency, and enhance the employee onboarding/offboarding lifecycle.
- Cross-functional Project Ownership: Own and lead end-to-end technical projects, including system migrations, major security upgrades, and the rollout of new enterprise applications. Decompose the most complex technical challenges into manageable project plans.
- Mentorship & Technical Guidance: Act as the technical subject matter expert and mentor for junior and mid-level IT engineers (P5/P6). Conduct rigorous code reviews, guide technical decision-making, and contribute to the evolution of the team's engineering excellence standards.
- Vendor & Budget Management: Collaborate with IT leadership on vendor management, technology selection, and budgeting for future IT infrastructure investments.
- Incident & Problem Management: Serve as the final escalation point for critical, high-impact system incidents, leading the technical response and authoring detailed root cause analysis reports.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Shell Scripting?, * Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in IT Systems Engineering, with a significant tenure in a tech-forward or high-growth environment (scale-ups/startups preferred).
- Expert Knowledge: Deep, architectural-level expertise in a majority of our core systems: Google Workspace, Okta (or other IDP/SSO), Jamf (or similar MDM), and network fundamentals (VLANs, VPNs, Security Groups).
- Advanced Coding Skills: Proven ability to design, write, and deploy production-level code/scripts (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for system automation and complex API integrations.
- Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading complex technical projects autonomously and driving consensus among cross-functional stakeholders.
- Certification: Relevant, advanced industry certifications (e.g., security, cloud infrastructure, or enterprise application administration).
