Cloud Engineer

Ensure the availability, performance, and security of VMware-based cloud systems supporting ESA Navigation activities

• Operate and maintain cloud systems running on VMware platforms
• Apply patches, upgrades, and configuration changes to cloud environments
• Contribute to automation activities using tools such as Ansible
• Ensure compliance with ESA Security Directives and internal ICT and security rules
• Implement system hardening measures and manage access controls
• Address vulnerabilities and enable early detection of anomalies through monitoring, logging, and auditing
• Provide user support for cloud-hosted services, handling incidents and service requests
• Contribute to service continuity through documentation and operational reporting
• Maintain and enhance monitoring dashboards for stable and transparent service

Proven experience administering VMware-based cloud environments

• Strong Linux system administration (required); solid Windows Server knowledge
• Experience with automation/configuration tools (e.g., Ansible)
• Experience with monitoring & logging solutions (e.g., ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, Nagios)
• Sound understanding of cloud security principles (IAM, logging, system hardening)
• Strong communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Structured, proactive, and solution-oriented approach
• Minimum 5 years experience in system and cloud administration or similar roles
• ITIL Foundation certificate (preferred)
• EU Nationality and willingness to obtain ESA Personal Security Clearance
