Job description
As a Lead Data Engineer, you will lead on the delivery and maintenance of SEPA's data platform and data products, ensuring that analytical and operational solutions are reliable, secure and meet stakeholder needs. You will:
- Collaborate with data customers, subject matter experts and data architects to deliver data sources, integrated datasets, and data & analytics services.
- Drive the development, testing and maintenance of data pipelines, warehouses, lakes, semantic models and reports.
- Implement security and access controls for data at rest and in motion.
- Define and apply engineering standards, quality assurance and agile practices in all delivery.

Requirements
Do you have experience in SQL?, This is a highly important role within our Governance, Performance & Engagement portfolio, which means you'll need:
- Degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
- Proven strong communication, teamwork and leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring colleagues, defining data engineering standards and delivering successful data engineering projects.
- Comprehensive knowledge of common data architectures and modelling (warehousing, data lake, medallion, data mesh, 3NF, dimensional / Kimball).
- Significant experience with the Azure stack (Fabric, Databricks, Power BI, Synapse, Delta Lake, PySpark / SparkSQL, SQL DW, Purview, Log Analytics, EntraID).
- Proven experience with agile delivery and DevOps practices (IaC, testing, monitoring, version control).
