Job description
Unix/linx support in a 7x24 environment. The unix/linux engineer supports the IT Unix/linux server infrastructure based on Solaris and Redhat. The environment services many mission critical applications in a 7x24 environment. Management * Manage Worldwide Server environment, based on a Unix (Solaris) and Linux (Redhat) in a 7x24 environment. * Process enhancement towards 1st and 2nd line support teams which are outsourced to a third party. * Knowledge in how the IT infrastructure is used by the organization. * Execute changes according to ITIL Process. * Solve incidents and prevent them where possible by a pro-active attitude. * Supporting activities like reporting and documentation. Roadmap * Discuss improvements on new and existing IT infrastructure ideas and changes with the Server Infrastructure Architect. Stakeholder management * Timely and clear communication, share information and knowledge * Share responsibility and make use of expertise of others * Focus on targets and evaluate * Clear role and responsibility
Requirements
Required * at least 5 years professional experience server management in a Unix/Linux environment. * at least 5 year experience on Linux (Redhat). * at least 5 year experience on Unix (Solaris). Preferable * Experience with VMWare management. * Experience with Redhat Clustering. Personal Skills * Basic knowledge of ITIL. * Good communication skills, good knowledge of the English language; * Communicative and pro-active personality with a strong "gets it done" mentality; * Ability to differentiate urgent matters from the not-so-urgent matters; * Firmness; * Decisiveness; * Security awareness; * Accuracy, precise, analytical, service minded and practical. * Willingness to participate in the 7x24 standby duties * Good customer focus and customer facing skills.
