Job description
This role is part of PayPal's global Developer Relations (DevRel) organization and is focused on enabling and empowering developers building on PayPal technologies. The Developer Advocate acts as a bridge between the external developer community and internal engineering teams, advocating for developer needs and helping improve the overall developer experience across APIs, SDKs, and documentation.
The role involves producing engaging, technically deep content - including blogs, videos, tutorials, and live presentations - and delivering that content at conferences, meetups, and webinars. By working closely with cross-functional partners, the Developer Advocate ensures developer feedback is translated into meaningful improvements and that PayPal's developer offerings meet the expectations of a diverse, global audience.
This is an individual contributor role with a strong emphasis on technical communication, community engagement, and cross-team collaboration., * Uses data to build insights on product or platform requirements consistent with the shared vision for the product.
- Gathers insights from the customer experience and customer needs to input to product requirements
- Analyzes research, market analysis and usability studies, research and market analysis to support data-driven decision making
- Monitors product profitability measures, including budget.
- Lead sprint planning, daily standups and retrospectives to drive execution. Interfaces with product and technology leadership as needed.
- Partners with content developers, data scientists, product designers and user experience researchers to identify new opportunities., * Advocate for developer needs to improve SDKs, APIs, documentation, and onboarding experiences
- Create localized and global technical content tailored to developer audiences
- Speak at regional and international developer events, meetups, and webinars
- Build trusted relationships with developers to encourage long-term advocacy and adoption
- Collaborate with internal teams to align developer messaging and education, For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace, ensuring that you equally have the benefits and conveniences of both locations.
Requirements
Do you have experience in SDKs?, Do you have a Bachelor's degree?, * 3+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience., * 3+ years of experience with frontend, web, or commerce technologies
- Experience working with APIs, SDKs, and developer platforms
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to simplify complex technical concepts for diverse audiences
- Fluency in German (required)
- Fluency in French or Italian (preferred)
- Creative mindset and passion for developer education and advocacy
