We offer a range of learning and development for all employees may you be clinical or non-clinical., The role of the DevOps Engineer is to support the DevOps with programming, integration, and development support for a range of systems to ensure operational performance is maintained and fed into the DevOps processes. The post holder will work in an agile way to provide specialist advice to Service Users and assist with the implementation of new software, hardware and infrastructure projects, including leading on the enhancement and optimisation of functionality within our established EPR system. You will work within the infrastructure team collaborating with Server Engineers, Packaging and Device Engineer. Together you will provide technical specialties and provide technical expertise in application packaging and supporting technologies.

Main duties of the job

Provide programming, integration, and development support for all software application services to end users and deliver applications to end users that meet RBH deployment strategy and security policies and ensure operational performance is maintained and fed into the DevOps processes.

Work in a collaborative manner with other DDaT colleagues to deliver tasks successfully.

Perform root cause analysis for production errors, deploy updates and fixes building tools to reduce occurrences of error and improve service delivery. Develop software to integrate with internal back-end systems

Maintain the security and integrity of all systems related to specialist area including managing all user access rights and implementation of any necessary backup regimes and other disaster recovery procedures.

Providing technical and administrative support for specialist systems, including the production of system specification documentation and the production of relevant procedures and protocols.

Monitoring and managing system performance, capacity and growth, providing advice on necessary upgrades and replacement of hardware and software to maintain the reliability of the Devops Engineer systems.

Ensuring compliance with Trust guidelines and other relevant policies.

Carry out support and service to all customers during the agreed working hours, including any out of hours working., Provide programming, integration, and development support for all software application services to end users and deliver applications to end users that meet RBH deployment strategy and security policies and ensure operational performance is maintained and fed into the DevOps processes.

Promote a culture of quality and ensure user problems are resolved in a prompt and professional manner

Actively contribute to the development of products and prototype applications based on requirements through analysis and solution design Automate tools to monitor system health and reliability to support business process requirement

Supports the change management and benefits realisation of the DDaT target operating model.

When required, provide expert knowledge in their respective field to troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues with a mixture of development technologies such as asp.net, MVC, FHIR etc.

Implement hardware changes and upgrades and database upgrades and migrations to maintain system performance and growth capacity.

Ensuring compliance with Trust guidelines and other relevant policies.

To maintain awareness of technical developments and research new technologies with a view to providing advice to DevOps Specialist on suitable deployment strategies for RBH.

Responsible for maintaining own specialist skills with appropriate professional training.

Carry out support and service to all customers during the agreed working hours, including any out of hours working.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, or related subject or equivalent in IT qualifications

Desirable criteria

  • Experience of Prince 2 or Agile project management and ITIL., * Significant experience in IT particularly in a DevOps setting Experience of Configuring and managing databases such as MySQL,
  • Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, cloud services and the development of APIs and integration standards On-going commitment to attend training courses to update and develop IT skills.
  • Ability to speak credibly and authoritatively to technical and non-technical audiences and assimilate technical language quickly and effectively., * Problem solving attitude
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
