Job description
The Data and Information Governance Lead is responsible for leading the development and implementation of an Information and Data Governance Framework across CalMac's support of the organisation's strategic objectives and regulatory compliance. This will be a key role with responsibility for the creation, management, implementation, governance, and dissemination of records and information management best practice across CalMac. Success will be judged by the sustained adoption of best practice data and Information management governance processes across all business areas, a demonstrable reduction in data and records related risk, and increased trust in the reliability of data and management information. Responsibilities
- Working with the Data and Information Governance Board to identify priorities, co-ordinate resources, harmonise activity and monitor progress
- Developing an organisation-wide data and information governance strategy and roadmap, with suitable objectives, priorities and KPIs
- Preparing clear, concise and actionable policies and processes that are in line with statutory, regulatory, strategic and operational requirements
- Raising awareness - through advocacy, support and training - of the value and importance of data and information management standards
- Identification, collaborating and coaching data stewards, data custodians, external suppliers and delivery partners to ensure that these standards are implemented appropriately at system level
- Developing data quality standards and metrics - backed by suitable oversight mechanisms, including reviews and audits - to ensure compliance
- Working with data stewards to identify any issues, understand root causes and implement suitable mitigations
- Reporting progress, risks, blockers and mitigating actions to the Data and Information Governance Board
- Ensure content is managed and compliant in accordance with policies and best practice
- Be a subject matter expert on data and information management governance, including its supporting strategic goals
- Provide training and guidance to promote and embed effective practice amongst colleagues.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Leadership?, * Deep experience with developing data and information governance in an organisation
- Strong understanding of principles, frameworks and best practices
- Familiarity with statutory and regulatory requirements
- Supporting teams adopt new governance processes
- Creating and managing data catalogues, business glossaries and information asset registers
- Leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills
- Shaping and driving change in a complex organisational environment.
