LEAD CONVERSATIONAL AI PLATFORM ENGINEER gesucht in Hamburg

This is not a research role and not a prototype environment! You will work on a real, revenue-generating product used by millions of users and operating under extreme growth and real production pressure. Your technical decisions directly impact stability, performance, and user experience in live production.

Tasks

• Actively develop production-level code and take overall technical ownership.
• Provide technical leadership to a small senior AI team (3-4 engineers).
• Design the architecture for training, inference, and deployment of language models under high load and real-time requirements.
• Improve context handling, memory mechanisms, retrieval approaches, and response quality.
• Define and drive fine-tuning and post-training strategies.
• Build precise moderation and classification solutions for adult / NSFW content, balancing safety with model quality and user freedom.

• 8+ years of experience in software engineering and/or machine learning.
• Proven responsibility for AI or LLM systems serving millions of users in production.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, PyTorch, and modern LLM frameworks.
• Practical experience with fine-tuning, data preparation, and model steering.
• Comfortable working with adult / NSFW content within clearly defined technical and safety boundaries.
• Based in Europe and able to collaborate reliably within European time zones.

• Salary up to € 200,000 (depending on experience and setup)
• Additional $ 80,000 in equity (company shares or stock options)
