Job description
We are looking for a Staff / Senior Software Engineer to join our Global Experimentation team in Barcelona. In this role, you will act as an Integration Architect, serving as the technical cornerstone that ensures our experimentation platform is seamlessly and correctly integrated across all of Delivery Hero's global entities.
As a hands-on technical leader, you will be responsible for the integrity of our experimentation ecosystem. You are expected to be platform-agnostic, with the ability to dive into, understand, and build within Backend, Mobile, and Web codebases. Beyond high-level architecture, this is a deeply hands-on role: you will be directly involved in resolving complex integration issues, and developing new features for our SDKs and core services. Your mission is to bridge the gap between our central platform and local engineering teams, ensuring that experimentation is not only scalable but technically flawless at every touchpoint.
In addition to experimentation, you will play a key role in evolving our feature flagging and configuration services, enabling product teams to ship safely and iterate rapidly through progressive delivery patterns such as canary rollouts and targeted configurations.
Responsibilities
- Integration Architecture & Coding: Act as the primary architect for global integrations while remaining active in the codebase. You will design and develop how our tools interface with diverse tech stacks.
- SDK & Implementation Oversight: Lead the strategy for SDK implementation, ensuring that randomization logic and tracking exposure are implemented consistently and correctly across all platforms (Web, iOS, Android, and Backend).
- Hands-on Problem Solving: Take direct ownership of integration issues. You will perform deep-dive audits and write code to remediate data discrepancies or performance issues.
- Standards & Governance: Establish global technical standards to ensure the reliability and scalability of our core services and assignment data.
- Feature Flagging & Config Platform: Design and evolve our feature flagging and configuration services to support progressive delivery strategies (e.g. canary rollout) across Backend, Web, and Mobile, ensuring they remain reliable, observable, and easy to adopt for product teams.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of professional software development experience with a strong focus on system architecture and a hands-on approach to delivery.
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in software development and solutions architecture, with deep expertise preferably in one or more of the following: Go (Golang) or JVM-based languages (Java, Kotlin, etc.)
- Platform Versatility: Proven ability to understand, develop, and debug code across multiple environments, including Backend services, Web, and Mobile (iOS/Android) applications.
- Engineering Literacy: High proficiency in API design, SDK lifecycles, and telemetry pipelines within distributed systems.
- Data Integrity: Competence in event modeling and data flow debugging to ensure experiment results are statistically sound and free of bias.
- Leadership & Collaboration: You have a proven ability to act as a mentor and technical leader, guiding and elevating the skills of other engineers. You thrive in a cross-functional environment and can effectively educate and collaborate with teams outside of your own
Nice to Have
- Experimentation Expertise: Technical knowledge of A/B testing frameworks, specifically regarding randomization algorithms and exposure tracking mechanisms.
- Progressive Delivery: Experience designing or operating feature flagging, rollout, or configuration systems (e.g. canary releases, staged rollouts, kill switches, runtime configuration)
- Technical Evangelism & Mobility: Willingness and flexibility to travel to various DH entities to run on-site architectural reviews and workshops.
