Job description

Osprey believes that innovative, precision-engineering logistics, by land and by water, can transform the way critical UK infrastructure is built. We bring together the very best multi-disciplinary engineering and delivery team to accelerate projects, enhance safety, and work side by side with clients to solve the most complex construction challenges.

We are seeking a committed and forward-thinking Design Engineer to support the effective development, delivery, and continuous improvement of engineering solutions across our project environment. Working closely with project leaders and cross-functional teams, you will ensure all design activities, specifications, and technical controls are executed accurately, consistently, and in line with industry standards and regulatory requirements. This role is ideal for someone looking to apply their engineering expertise within a dynamic project environment.

What You'll do

  • Develop and verify design schemes for bespoke temporary works equipment used in heavy transport, marine and installation operations

  • Produce clear design briefs that define project requirements for detailed engineering phases

  • Identify and analyse all relevant load cases to ensure structural suitability and compliance

  • Design structurally efficient, operationally practical solutions aligned with project needs and industry standards

  • Ensure all equipment designs comply with Eurocodes, relevant technical standards, and Ospreys temporary work procedure

  • Carry out structural calculations using a combination of hand methods and FEA, leading to robust design reports

Requirements

2-3 Years experience, Bachelors degree in related Engineering field (Masters Desirable), * Bachelor's degree in Structural, Civil, Mechanical, or a related engineering discipline

  • Strong knowledge and practical experience in designing complex steel structures

  • Extensive experience working with Eurocode (EC3) and relevant structural design standards

  • Good understanding of fabrication processes and the ability to design with fabrication and operational constraints in mind

  • Proven experience producing structural calculations using both hand-calculations and FEA methods

  • Proficiency in creating high-quality 2D and 3D engineering drawings

  • Confident in using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
