Job description

The National Defense Authorization Act for FY 2020 approved a new, independent Space Force in the Department of the Air Force. The U.S. Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains & equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. This new military branch is taking shape and recruiting!, The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a MAJCOM/FOA (or comparable level) security specialist to protect the enterprise from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to enterprise and enterprise mission interests, national defense or national security.

DUTY 1: Administers the Information Security Program protecting the enterprise from espionage, terrorism, and threats of unauthorized disclosure and/or compromise of information or material considered vital to enterprise mission interests, national defense or national security. Enforces operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program for the MAJCOM/FOA (or comparable level) Information Security Programs.

DUTY 2: Directs the personnel security program to ensure secure accomplishment of the enterprise's missions, goals and objectives through proactive application of security principles, policies, and practices. Enforces operational, functional, and mission assurance aspects of the program to include validation of positions requiring access to classified information, processing of personnel security investigations, and establishment and maintenanceof Security Information Files (SIFs).

DUTY 3: Provides enterprise and subordinate organizations worldwide with authoritative guidance on aspects concerning physical security programs for the protection of classified national security information, both Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) and collateral information. Manages the physical security requirements for multiple Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIFs).

DUTY 4: Manages the Industrial Security Program. Provides effective guidance, training, and direction to subordinate assigned organizations/activities/units on industrial security program matters. Provides enterprise oversight to subordinate organizations on the visitor agreement process to ensure effective management of their program. Ensures initial facility security clearance surveys of contractor facilities are conducted to determine contractor ability to work with and store classified and sensitive information, including information generated or stored in Automated Information Systems (AIS)., 3. Requirements

Do you have experience in Personnel management?, Do you have a Doctoral degree?, 1. Knowledge of a wide range of advanced concepts, principles, criteria, requirements, technology, and practices involved in security.

  1. Knowledge of security program interrelationships to coordinate the objectives and plans of two or more specialized programs to support and promote information sharing and strategies.
  2. Skill to interpret a variety of security program laws, directives, regulations, and guidance to assist subordinate organizations in establishing and operating internal security programs.
  3. Skill in the use of analytical principles, practices, and techniques to review, evaluate, and apply several alternatives according to the security requirements for highly specific situations, availability of materials, relationships with other protective programs, and cost/benefit considerations.
  4. Ability to communicate orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and accurately to a large range of audiences.
  5. Ability to establish effective professional working relationships with coworkers and customers, contributing to a cooperative working environment and successful accomplishment of the mission.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CONTINUED:

  1. Drug Testing: This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

  2. Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) conferral is required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. The listed certification requirements may not be deleted or modified without the written approval of the AF Security Functional Authority (SAF/AA) or their delegated security career field representative.

  3. The duties of this position meet all requirements as a category 4 designation and shall not be vacated during a national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the parent Federal Agency or office to function effectively. This position must be removed from the Ready Reserve and CAN NOT become a member of the Ready Reserve. (IAW: DoDD 1200.7, "Screening the Ready Reserve."

  4. This position is emergency essential. In the event of a crisis situation, the incumbent, or designated alternate, must continue to perform the Emergency-Essential duties until relieved by proper authority. The incumbent or the designated alternate may be required to take part in readiness exercises. This position cannot be vacated during national emergency or mobilization without seriously impairing the capability of the organization to function effectively. This meets the criteria of an Emergency-Essential position and requires that the incumbent, or the designated alternate, be removed from any military recall status. Employee must sign DD Form 2365 as a condition of employment.

  5. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft/vehicle to conferences, meetings, or functions away from the duty office/location. Travel may include overnight stays.

  6. This is a Mission-Essential position performing a Mission-Critical-Function which must continue uninterrupted after the occurrence of an emergency and continued through full resumption of all functions.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
