Job description

We are seeking an experienced motivated and effective Senior Infrastructure Engineer to work with the IT Infrastructure Lead Engineer and assist in coordination, design, implementation, and maintenance of the organisation's IT infrastructure, ensuring stability, scalability, high availability, security and regulatory compliance. The role requires effective communication and interpersonal skills., * Assist the Head of IT Infrastructure and Security (HoITIS) and Lead Infrastructure Engineer (LIE) in ensuring that all systems covered by the IT Infrastructure department are running efficiently and effectively to augment and contribute to the department's objectives.

  • Assist the LIE in the implementation of, and the adherence to, the corporate IT Infrastructure Strategy to ensure, an effective IT Governance framework.
  • Architect and deploy high performance, secure and compliant IT Infrastructure solutions by translating business needs into tangible IT plans.
  • In consultation with the LIE, agree and manage your own technical workload for the delivery of new infrastructure projects, system upgrades and maintenance programmes to accomplish departmental objectives.
  • Engage with third party vendors and internal departments and teams as required to ensure the successful completion of projects, maintenance tasks or escalated IT support tickets.
  • Optimise IT infrastructure for performance, cost management and reliability.
  • Participate in internal and external audits ensuring infrastructure meets corporate and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in the full infrastructure lifecycle, including maintenance planning, asset tracking, license management, documentation (e.g. standard operating procedures, policies, controls) and RFP evaluations.
  • Assist with Support ticket escalations from the IT Service Desk.
  • Assist the LIE in managing an annual Disaster Recovery testing programme.
  • Prepare Business Requirement Documents (BRD) & project budgetary forecasts as required.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
  • Participate in on-call rota for critical incident response.
  • Travel to international offices and other subsidiaries as required.

Requirements

Do you have experience in Virtualization?, The candidate will have extensive experience in IT Infrastructure technologies, including, but not limited to, servers, storage, hypervisors, networking, cloud (Azure), Microsoft 365, Microsoft Enterprise software, high availability and disaster recovery solutions. This position is particularly suited for individuals from a Managed Service Provider background with proven end-to-end infrastructure delivery expertise, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to translate IT requirements into effective solutions. The role plays a critical part in ensuring uninterrupted business operations and high stakeholder satisfaction., Must have strong hands-on technical experience in the following:

  • Windows Server technologies (SCCM, MSSQL, Active Directory, File & Print, DFS)
  • SAN Storage (NetApp, EMC)
  • Microsoft 365 solutions (Entra ID, Exchange, SharePoint, Intune, Security)
  • Azure (networking, storage, servers)
  • Citrix DaaS and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
  • Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V)
  • High availability (HA), disaster recovery (DR) and data backup solutions & strategies
  • Cyber security best practices, methodologies and technologies (e.g. IAM, zero trust, encryption, vulnerability & patch management)
  • Firewall management (Palo Alto, Cisco)
  • High level network design (WAN, LAN)
  • Dell & HPE server and workstation hardware
  • Managing on-premises data centres
  • On premises and cloud infrastructure, including experience with multi-cloud and hybrid cloud strategies.
  • Experience is desirable in the following:
  • Administration of Linux distributions (RedHat, Ubuntu)
  • Administration of Containerisation solutions (Kubernetes)
  • Managing load balancers (Kemp, Cisco)
  • Management of Cisco network switches (VLANs, Routing, security)
  • Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code Concepts and tools (e.g.: Terraform, Ansible)
  • ETRM Systems (Endur, Symphony)
  • Telephony (Mitel, Cisco)
  • Connectivity to trade venues, market data and third party vendors, * 5+ years of experience in senior infrastructure engineering (3rd line), cloud platforms, data centres and systems administration.
  • Understanding of regulatory frameworks: e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR, FCA Directives.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Enthusiasm, willingness to learn and share in equal measures.
  • Ability to work to strict deadlines with competing priorities.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, strong organisational skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience running medium/large scale projects.
  • Experience managing third party vendors and suppliers.

  • Fluency in Mandarin.
