Job description

The Data Analyst post holder s will work with AWTTC to deliver a work programme aligned to the ambitions of VPAG. The post holder s will collate and provide information that is integral to the use of medicines within Wales and will assist with the delivery of a number of work streams that sit under the VPAG Programme ., Work with the AWTTC team and stakeholders to establish information requirements across a range of complex data areas. This will include p roducing a regular suite of reports that incorporate a range of analytical techniques.

The post holder s will be responsible for designing information systems to disseminate information on a range of key performance indicators for the organisation. Including analysing complex datasets and converting them into meaningful reports that can be understood by a range of stakeholders.

Develop information systems that enable effective interoperability between each other and support the effective integration of various areas of healthcare. Develop tools to include analysis of key factors and ensure that key messages are highlighted appropriately.

Respond to ad-hoc requirements from AWTTC staff and stakeholders to identify particular reasons for poor performance and identify corrective action needed. Explore innovative opportunities to link prescribing data with other relevant clinical demographic data .

Requirements

The Data Analyst role s are based within a busy, high-volume, and dynamic team, ideal for an individual s with strong analytical skills and a passion for using data to drive improvement. You will collaborate with stakeholders to deliver impactful insight s , support the implementation of initiatives, and measure their impact.

The post holder s will collect, analyse, and interpret complex data to identify opportunities for improvement. Skilled in developing bespoke data collection tools and applying statistical techniques, you will present findings clearly to inform decisions., Essential

Educated to Degree level in science, information science or a numeric discipline or equivalent level of experience.

Additional specialist knowledge acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent level of experience.

Desirable

Postgraduate diploma.

Experience

Specialist knowledge of analysis and use of qualitative and quantitative data.

Ability to extract data from various systems.

A high degree of numeracy.

Experience in an analytical role.

Experience of presenting data analyses.

Ability to comprehend and work within the AWTTC's policies of Data Protection and Freedom of Information.

Desirable

Working knowledge of a range of statistical techniques.

Experience in operating a range of data analysis tools

Experience of prescribing data analysis.

Essential

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite of products (particularly Excel) along with understanding how they interconnect with other information systems.

Knowledge of NHS datasets and data definitions.

Working knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL) and other programming languages.

Working knowledge of Business Intelligence tools e.g. Tableau.

Desirable

Knowledge of prescribing and pharmaceutical systems and processes. Knowledge of GP practice prescribing systems.

Good understanding of a wide range of health services research skills. Understanding of guideline development and medicine assessment methodology .

About the company

An opportunity has arisen for two enthusiastic, highly organised and motivated individual s to join the All Wales Therapeutics and Toxicology Centre (AWTTC). The AWTTC is a multi-professional organisation that provides NHS Wales with a portfolio of prescribing and medicines optimisation services and offers dedicated administrative, technical and professional support to the All Wales Medicines Strategy Group (AWMSG) in developing medicines optimisation projects and playing an integral role in the monitoring and managed entry of medicines within NHS Wales. The Voluntary Scheme for Branded Medicines Pricing, Access and Growth (VPAG) was agreed by the UK government, NHS England, and the Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) in December 2023. The aim of the programme is to develop and test innovative approaches to medicine assessment to improve processes related specifically to access and uptake of new medicines., Cardiff and Vale University Health Board is one of the largest Integrated Health Boards in the UK, employing over 17,000 staff, providing over 100 specialist services.
