Job description

The Dream3D (Rios) group, based at The Princess Máxima Center, is looking for a highly motivated bioinformation research technician; with a passion for data management, and computational analysis. As a bioinformatics specialist, you will contribute to the smooth handling, processing and analysis of RNA sequencing datasets. In addition, our projects generate vast amounts of imaging and sequencing datasets that need to be structured. Your challenge will be to keep our data ecosystem organized, accessible, and ready for both in-house research and collaborative projects., * Develop and run transcriptomics analysis pipelines (bulk RNA-seq and single-cell RNA-seq) to support comprehensive characterization of the organoid biobanks we develop in the lab and their comparison to patient samples

  • Provide bioinformatics support across the team, including RNA-seq data interpretation(e.g., UMAP visualization, tSNE, differential expressed gene (DEG), inferred cell communication and gene network analysis) for cancer and immune cell characterization.
  • Take a leading role in the organization and management of our recently acquired cloud-based storage and compute resources in Google Cloud.
  • Manage large-scale biological datasets, ensuring data integrity, accessibility (e.g., via repository uploading), and compliance with relevant data governance standards.
  • Perform data compression, transfer to storage, and data archiving
  • Provide general technical support to the research group (e.g overseeing the ordering of laptops with appropriate specs for new members of staff).

Profile

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in analysing complex biological data, and lead efforts in managing large datasets, with a focus on integrating computational analysis into biomedical research. These skills will be applied to the analysis of 3D human organoid models and immune cells in comparison to patient datasets. Furthermore, their expertise will help ensure that advanced experimental pipelines can be supported by robust and accessible data management strategies., We offer a research technician position for 36 hours per week in an inspiring and multidisciplinary research environment. You will initially be appointed for a period of 1 year with a possible extension. Your gross monthly salary will depend on experience and background, starting in scale 50 (HBO or WO bachelor) or scale 55 (WO Master) with a maximum of €5.395,- gross a month based on a fulltime position (36 hours). You also receive 8,33% gross monthly salary holiday allowance and 8,33 % end-of-year bonus. The Princess Máxima Center operates according to the collective labour agreement 'cao algemene ziekenhuizen'.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (HBO / MSc) in bioinformatics, computational biology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with analysis software and running code in Python
  • Experience with structural IT tasks: data processing, data management, data transfer
  • Experience interpreting RNA-seq and single-cell datasets
  • Advantage but not required is experience with cloud-based storage and data sharing
  • Strong problem-solving skills: critical thinking, data interpretation, troubleshooting
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and excellent oral and written English skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
