Job description

As a Senior Data Engineer with a focus on Snowflake, you will be responsible for building high-quality, resilient data pipelines that can handle data changes at scale. You will be a key advocate for "functional data engineering" principles while ensuring that the client's data platforms are secure and efficient.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creating and supporting highly available storage solutions and data warehouses.
  • Crafting views and queries that answer analytical questions in a concise and efficient manner using SQL.
  • Optimising queries and managing their dependence on indexing and partitioning.
  • Communicating effectively while working remotely with globally distributed teams.

Requirements

  • We are looking for a specialist who can effectively decompose complex data projections and apply rigorous software design to data environments.
  • Snowflake & SQL Focus: Deep experience with SQL dialects and the ability to optimise queries for high-scale environments.
  • Technical Breadth: Knowledge of data processing at scale and the complexity of testing data pipelines.
  • Agile Standards: Experience with TDD, pair programming, and CI/CD tools.
  • Quality Focused: You know how to ensure data quality at all stages of the pipeline.
  • Security Mindset: Knowledge of GDPR and the security implications of developing data processing platforms.

About the company

We have partnered with a leading consultancy specialising in custom software for blue chip enterprises and public sector clients. They pride themselves on using modern technical practices, including XP, TDD, and Continuous Deployment, to help their clients innovate. This role is based in London with a "remote-first" approach, requiring only one day per month on-site, with a heavy emphasis on modern cloud data warehousing and Snowflake.
