Job description
Are you a hands-on data engineering leader ready to take ownership of a modern cloud data platform? We are seeking a Data Engineer Lead to design, build, and optimise enterprise-scale data solutions, focusing on Databricks and cloud-based engineering. You'll lead the migration of Legacy Oracle systems to a scalable, cloud-native environment, ensuring high-quality pipelines and models that support analytics, regulatory reporting, and business decision-making., * Lead the design and development of Data Marts and pipelines using Databricks (SQL/Python).
- Manage migration from Oracle databases to cloud-native platforms, including data model redesign and automated ETL/ELT frameworks.
- Provide technical leadership, mentoring, and coaching to data engineers.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Architecture, DevOps, Analytics, and Finance.
- Ensure engineering best practices, including CI/CD, version control, orchestration, and governance.
- Drive continuous improvement in automation, monitoring, and platform performance.
Requirements
- Strong expertise in Databricks, cloud data platforms, and data lakehouse principles.
- Deep knowledge of data modelling, data integration patterns, and ETL/ELT best practices.
- Hands-on experience with SQL and Python (or other programming languages).
- Proven experience leading data engineering teams and delivering enterprise-scale solutions.
- Experience migrating data from Legacy systems (Oracle or similar) to cloud environments.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Desirable
- Relevant cloud or Databricks certifications (eg, Azure Data Engineer, Databricks Data Engineer Associate/Professional).
- Experience in regulated or data-intensive industries.
- Knowledge of MDM, metadata management, lineage, and data governance practices.
