Technical Director / CTO

We're a B-Corp in progress, a consultancy with soul, and a team that genuinely cares. As we grow, we're hiring a Technology Director to lead our technical delivery, shape strategy and scale our engineering capability.

Why This Role Exists We're looking for someone who can:

• Ensure quality and stability across projects
• Set technical direction and guide architecture
• Mentor engineers (staff and freelance)
• Represent Rascal's technical voice with clients
• Help shape internal tools and platform capability

What You'll Do

Technical Leadership

• Own Rascal's architecture and tooling approach
• Act as interim CTO for select projects
• Ensure secure, scalable delivery standards
• Review and guide infrastructure and DevOps

Team Support

• Mentor engineers across projects
• Shape tech culture, hiring and documentation
• Align with Product, Ops and Delivery teams

Client Engagement

• Lead discovery and scoping conversations
• Translate ideas into clear technical plans
• Join workshops, pitches and client calls

Strategic Growth

• Contribute to proposals and estimation
• Develop reusable tools and IP
• Recommend practical innovation

Hands-on Delivery

• Write/review code (TypeScript, Python, Node.js)
• Set up pipelines and infrastructure
• Support delivery teams and unblock blockers

You Might Be a Fit If You...

• Are a senior engineer or tech lead with broad stack fluency
• Can architect and guide greenfield builds
• Have agency or consulting experience
• Know AWS/serverless platforms well
• Communicate clearly with clients and collaborators
• Care about people, purpose and practical delivery

Tech Stack (Varies by Project) Frontend: React, Astro, TypeScript Backend: Django, FastAPI, Node.js Infra: AWS, SST, Pulumi, Lambda, Terraform Mobile: Flutter, React Native Tooling: GitHub Actions, Docker, ClickUp, Figma
