Job description

The Energy Team within Estates & Facilities is seeking a Student Energy & Carbon Data Assistant to support energy data analysis, reporting, and related sustainability initiatives across the university estate.

This role focuses on improving how energy consumption, costs, and carbon emissions are monitored and reported. The successful candidate will work with large datasets, contribute to Power BI dashboard development, and explore opportunities to automate energy data processes.

  • Explore opportunities to connect the energy management software, for example, via REST APIs, to automate the retrieval of energy data to improve monthly energy reporting workflows.
  • Help review and improve data quality in energy and utilities datasets.
  • Power BI Dashboard Development
  • Support the improvement and optimisation of existing Power BI dashboards used for energy and carbon reporting.
  • Assist with developing new dashboard features and improving visualisation design, in response to the feedback from stakeholders.
  • Assist in identifying trends, anomalies, and insights within energy datasets.
  • Support exploratory work on developing carbon reporting at the departmental level.
  • Methodology & Documentation
  • Document data sources, calculation methods, and reporting processes to ensure transparency and consistency.
  • Support the preparation of documentation relevant to data reporting for the Energy Management System set up (ISO 50001)., This role sits within the Faculty Student Experience Team and is the first point of contact for all student support queries for taught programme students in their cluster, handling enquiries relating to extenuating circumstances, student withdrawal/interruptions, student support, and escalating to appropriate team members when required. The post holder is expected to respond courteously and professionally to enquiries in person, by email, through AskQM and by phone., * To assist Student Support Officers (SSOs) in their cluster with administration related to student support. This will include;
  • processing Extenuating Circumstances (EC) applications.
  • administration relating to Disability and Dyslexia.
  • assessment related matters arising from EC outcomes.
  • the administration of withdrawals/interruptions and updating relevant documents, and records as required.
  • Assist with the monitoring of student engagement with a view to collating information for engagement records, including student visa monitoring; assisting with the identification of students with engagement issues.
  • Assist SSOs with providing advice and guidance to students and staff in line with Faculty student support procedures and the University?s Academic Regulations.
  • To provide frontline support for student support enquiries via AskQM, handling enquiries relating to student support matters, and escalating complex enquiries to the appropriate SSO and/or signposting students to QM Professional Support Services as required.
  • To update records for EC outcomes on University records systems and provide advice and guidance to students and staff in this area.
  • To retrieve, update, disseminate and store EC reports from Mysis as required in preparation for EC committees, Subject Examination Boards or at the request of Module Organisers.
  • To provide reception services for the when on Campus including answering routine email, face to face and phone enquiries from students, staff and visitors, referring them to other staff as appropriate., We are looking for an organised, experienced administrator to take on a part-time role within the HIV research department. They will be responsible for organising paperwork ahead of patient visits, ensuring documentation is correct and accurate, filing research notes and entering data.

Requirements

  • Hands-on experience working with real-world energy and carbon datasets.
  • Practical experience developing Power BI dashboards and data reporting tools.
  • Exposure to data automation, APIs, and energy data systems used in operational environments.
  • Experience documenting data methodologies and reporting processes.
  • Insight into energy management and carbon reporting, including ISO 50001 development., Essential
  • Current undergraduate or postgraduate student or recent graduate at King?s College London.
  • Strong interest in data analysis and structured problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel software.
  • Experience using Power BI or other data visualisation tools.
  • Strong knowledge of the application of REST APIs, data warehouse and relevant troubleshooting.
  • Ability to document analytical methodologies and processes clearly and logically.
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills.

Desirable

  • Experience with Python, SQL, or APIs for data processing and automation.
  • Interest in energy systems, carbon reporting, or sustainability analytics.
  • Experience retrieving or processing data from external systems (e.g. APIs, web services, or automated data pipelines).
  • Experience writing technical documentation, methodologies, or standard operating procedures., GCSE or equivalent in English and Mathematics.

Degree or equivalent qualification/experience. (Desirable), * Relevant experience working in a busy environment, ideally Higher Education

  • Experience of effectively using administrative systems within a university or similar environment such as SITS, Moodle and Salesforce. (Desirable)
  • Experience of dealing effectively with people face-to-face in a university or similar environment with a customer-oriented approach.
  • Understanding of student support issues in Higher Education.
  • Understanding of and commitment to, equality of opportunity and to deal with diversity sensitively and fairly.
  • Experience of servicing committees, producing documentation and writing minutes.

  • Accurate data entry and attention to detail when working under pressure.

  • Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office software (including Excel skills, Outlook, Word).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills., We are looking for someone with initiative who knows how to think on their feet and can work effectively within a busy team and environment. They must be familiar and comfortable dealing with confidential information.

Administration experience, ideally within a research/clinical environment. Experience working within a multi-disciplinary team and the ability to work independantly
