Job description

At ECS, information technology, digitalization, and advanced automation are key priorities. To keep all systems, networks, and infrastructure in top shape, we are looking for a hands-on System Engineer with the right attitude. As a System Engineer, you are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our IT infrastructure and systems. We are looking for someone who is not only technically skilled but also takes initiative and continuously seeks ways to improve processes. You deliver high-quality service by completing tasks accurately and on time and support your colleagues by providing information and standard solutions. You will work in a team of six and report to the System Architect Team Leader. In addition, you will collaborate closely with other IT colleagues and support them when needed.

What will you do?

  • Change Management & Project Execution: Analyze and communicate the impact of changes. Implement modifications to IT infrastructure, software, and hardware solutions. Ensure proper documentation and keep the CMDB up to date.
  • Incident Management: Restore services in line with the agreements defined in the SLA.
  • Operational Management: Handle tickets generated by automated monitoring and maintain oversight to address recurring issues. Execute service requests in a timely and high-quality manner and contribute to the automation of operational tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Work on increasing efficiency and quality.
  • Colleague Support: Provide standard changes and solutions, communicate upcoming changes, and offer sufficient information and training.
  • Process Control: Monitor and optimize the quality, effectiveness, and efficiency of handling various calls. Deliver relevant process management information.
  • Service Desk Support: Assist at the service desk when staffing is insufficient.
  • 24/7 Standby Duties: When on call, you are available 24/7 to resolve (potential) disruptions to the information system reported by the automated monitoring system or by users.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and diagnose software, server, and PC issues. Approach problems analytically to determine the correct solution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or at least 5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of system architecture and implementing architecture across systems and infrastructure.
  • Knowledge and use of scripting languages such as PowerShell.
  • Knowledge of common Microsoft end-user products such as Windows Client, Office 365 suite, Outlook & Exchange.
  • Knowledge and use of Windows Server (DNS, Active Directory, DHCP, IIS, DFS).
  • Strong knowledge and management of networks and their concepts (TCP/IP - OSI model) and configuration of routers & switches (Cisco IOS syntax).
  • Knowledge of Modern Workplace (Intune, Endpoint Management, policies, etc.).
  • Knowledge of desktop & server virtualization technologies (Citrix, VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Azure infrastructure & hybrid setups.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes is a plus.
  • Strong awareness of cybersecurity, its risks, and the necessary measures.
  • Strong communication skills in Dutch & English. Knowledge of French is a nice bonus.
