Job description

Our Business Transaction Banking Platform, Channels Lab teams aim to deliver the highest quality software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting colleague development. This is a software engineering level role within the Lab that will blend deep domain / technical expertise with great passion for mentoring and developing software's in delivering technical solutions to become the bank of the future., Lloyds Banking Group focuses on helping Britain prosper. A Senior Software Engineer who values excellence and demonstrates dedication to delivering world-class solutions is sought. This role in Edinburgh offers the opportunity to contribute to transforming the banking experience for customers. The position involves working with innovative technologies and collaborating with skilled colleagues to produce outstanding results.

What you'll be doing

  • Identifying, crafting and implementing technical solutions as part of the ongoing platform engineering, focusing on scaling, efficiency, and performance tuning
  • Contributing to technical design discussions to ensure efficient solutions are achieved
  • Collaborating in a highly collaborative Engineering team to complete assigned work, showcase progress, and address sophisticated and non-routine problems
  • Working closely with Customer Journey Managers and Product Owners to ensure requirements are clearly defined, and tickets meet DoR and DoD criteria, We want to ensure all our candidates have the opportunity to shine. Requirements

  • Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of the entire application stack and exposure to microservices technologies, particularly Java 17, Spring Boot, Maven, Kafka K Stream, as well as RESTful APIs and web services
  • Working independently and taking ownership while using your own initiative
  • Understanding the end-to-end SDLC thoroughly
  • Applying practical experience with agile Development methods, DevOps pipelines, continuous integration/deployment, and Test Automation (BDD), GHE Source code Management, and the E2E software development lifecycle
  • Applying knowledge of Change, Incident and Problem management processes, ITIL, and production support tools such as Service Now, and providing production support
  • Providing on-call support one week a month for key support and change delivery

What we're looking for

  • Proficiency in Java/ JavaScript (Spring, Spring Boot, Node JS)
  • Experience with Kafka, Microsoft Azure, and IBM Aurora cloud servers
  • Familiarity with relational databases (SQL or Oracle, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Websphere / Collective controller / IHS
  • Proficiency with DevOps Tooling: Jenkins, Maven, GitHub, Urban Code, Dynatrace, Splunk, and others
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with partners, showcasing qualities such as ethics, trustworthiness, and personal organization
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Practical experience developing Microservices and making them available as REST / SOAP APIs
  • Experience in deploying services in on-prem and containerized (Kubernetes) environments
  • Experience with Cloud deployments and providing solutions in a hybrid cloud environment
