Job description
Are you driven by data and eager to discover how AI and data science can truly make an impact in practice? At Albert Heijn, the largest food retailer in the Netherlands, you will have the opportunity as a thesis intern within the Digital Data Science Analytics team to work on smart, data-driven solutions that elevate our digital customer journey and bring intelligent app features to the next level.
Whether it's improving the customer journey, recommending the most relevant offers in My Bonus Box, or making the search functionality even smarter, you will help translate insights and models into concrete innovations. An internship for those who not only want to learn, but also want to contribute to the future of Albert Heijn.
Jouw nieuwe baan en werkplek. You will be joining the Data Science & Analytics team consisting of 150 data professionals working on advanced data solutions to understand customer behavior, increase customer relevance, and optimize internal processes. Together with colleagues from marketing, commerce, and technology, you'll translate data insights into tangible impact for millions of customers and our own employees.
In this role, you'll work closely with machine learning engineers, analysts, business stakeholders, and other data scientists to contribute to smart, data-driven solutions that create value for our customers and colleagues every day.
You will work 40 hours per week on your research, partly from our headquarters in Zaandam and partly from home. Together with your thesis supervisor, you'll choose a relevant and challenging topic to research and model.
We find it important that you can be yourself at Albert Heijn in an environment open to different perspectives, an environment where we're curious and value each other. For this role, we're ideally looking for someone who strengthens the diversity of our team, in the broadest sense of the word. Someone who brings a different perspective based on their own background and personal qualities, making them a valuable addition to our team.
What we offer.

- Present findings and progress to the team and stakeholders.
- An internship allowance (€500 per four weeks) plus travel expenses.
- Social drinks and networking events with other interns at our headquarters.
- An inclusive environment where you can continuously develop both personally and professionally.
