Job description

  • Work on complex, high?profile projects where electrical resilience, safety and sustainability really matter - including commercial, healthcare, life sciences and data?driven facilities.
  • Own the full lifecycle: concept and feasibility, detailed design, construction support and handover - not just one small package.
  • Be a key voice in a collaborative, low?ego environment where engineers shape standards, solutions and client outcomes.
  • Grow with a clear route to project lead or associate, plus support toward Chartership and structured CPD.
  • Enjoy flexible, modern ways of working, built on trust, autonomy and quality rather than clock?watching.

Your impact

  • Lead the electrical design on projects, managing delivery from concept through construction to client handover.
  • Champion best?in?class electrical design standards and drive adoption of innovative and low?energy solutions.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to ensure high?quality output and on?time delivery.
  • Act as the key point of contact for electrical matters, liaising with clients, architects, project managers and contractors.
  • Prepare technical specifications and fully detailed tender packages, including reports, analysis and recommendations.
  • Oversee and perform design and installation quality checks in line with project requirements and industry regulations.
  • Develop project scopes with the design team and clients, ensuring alignment on expectations and deliverables.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and graduates, supporting their technical and professional development.
  • Participate in design reviews, technical workshops and site inspections as required.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years' experience in electrical engineering within the building services sector.
  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Working towards or already Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).
  • Proven experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong electrical building services design experience (lighting, power distribution, fire alarm, security, emergency systems).
  • Solid understanding of IEC/IS/BS/EN standards, with familiarity with CIBSE and IET codes of practice.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience producing detailed load calculations and coordinating electrical systems.
  • Knowledge of sustainable, low?energy solutions is a strong advantage.

Who will thrive here

  • A confident technical leader with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High attention to detail and a focus on quality.
  • Able to work independently and proactively with minimal oversight.
  • Comfortable in front of clients, with a collaborative, solutions?focused mindset.
  • Strong time management, able to prioritise across multiple projects.
