Job description
The Head of Technology Finance is a senior finance business partner responsible for providing strategic insight, transformation support, and robust financial oversight to the Group Chief Operating Officer (COO) and their leadership team. This role plays a critical part in monitoring, analysing, and managing the COO cost base, enabling informed decision-making and supporting the wider transformation agenda across the Group. As the COO perimeter represents a significant proportion of the Group's overall cost base, the accuracy, analysis, and recommendations produced by this function are central to delivering our end-state objectives and ensuring the COO function evolves into a more efficient, future-ready organisation. The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with strong business partnering experience, capable of operating in a dynamic environment, influencing senior stakeholders, and driving financial discipline across the technology and operations landscape. Role Responsibilities Team Leadership & Financial Oversight Lead and support the team in conducting variance analysis, cost monitoring, trend analysis, and early-warning indicators across key financial measures and expense categories, including providing clear narrative and recommendations. Produce high-quality insights from large datasets (Oracle, OneStream), transforming data into meaningful analysis that informs decision-making. Identify and champion opportunities to automate and streamline existing processes, reducing manual effort and improving efficiency. Strengthen forecasting, budgeting, and monthly review processes to support a more structured, lean, and transparent operating model. Stakeholder Management & Business Partnering Build and maintain strong relationships with budget holders, senior stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to support effective cost management. Act as the primary Finance representative at Management & Support Function forums, providing oversight of deals, spend approvals, CMF reviews, and cost governance activities. Serve as the first point of contact for business teams, engaging with Financial Control, regional Finance teams, and other internal stakeholders. Budgeting, Forecasting & Governance Own the coordination of the budgeting and forecasting cycle for the COO perimeter, ensuring alignment with Group Finance processes. Provide guidance on key metrics, KPIs, budgeting methodologies, and financial expectations. Periodically review accounting treatment of costs to ensure compliance with IFRS and Group accounting guidance. Transformation, Cost Review & Risk Assessment Support strategic evaluation of options to reshape the technology estate and broader COO cost base, including assessing risks, benefits, and financial implications. Review, challenge, and validate external and internal business cases related to COO infrastructure change and transformation. Collaborate with the Group Transformation Programme (COMPASS) and project leads to ensure a consistent, integrated approach to financial oversight. Develop mechanisms to track and measure benefits from change initiatives, ensuring they are delivered and sustained over time.
Requirements
Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with 8+ years' post-qualification experience. Demonstrable experience as a Technology Finance Business Partner or equivalent senior Finance role. Strong understanding of IFRS accounting standards and financial governance. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data modelling and complex analysis. Experience working with large datasets and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, OneStream). Exceptional interpersonal skills, with proven experience business partnering senior and non-Finance stakeholders. Strong organisational capability, able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment. High attention to detail with a diligent, structured approach to analysis and reporting. Ability to prioritise effectively, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality, well-considered outputs. Confident in challenging assumptions and supporting strategic change initiatives. Self-motivated, resilient, and results-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with sound judgement in decision-making. Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes, systems, and technologies. Desired Experience operating within a transformation environment or supporting organisational redesign. Exposure to large-scale cost-base optimisation initiatives, particularly across Technology or Operations. Strong facilitation skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment. Experience with Oracle and Hyperion / OneStream analytical or planning tools (highly advantageous). Familiarity with financial modelling techniques used to assess technology transformation business cases. Understanding of cost-benefit tracking methodologies and change-programme benefit realisation.
