Job description
From Internet connectivity and smart building technology to IT and data centre services, ASK4's solutions bring buildings to life. Working with clients across student housing, build to rent, later living and other sectors, we ensure that people are able to live life and work productively.
As ASK4's Design Engineer, you will join our Design Team working on everything from designs and technical documentation to bill of materials and costs. You will complete detailed and accurate designs for the implementation of managed Internet and Wi-Fi services into Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) and other Build to Rent (BTR) markets.
What you'll be doing:
- Produce predictive wireless network designs using Ekahau AI Pro, in line with the ASK4 design guidelines and best practices.
- Produce LAN designs to support wireless network deployments and wired Internet access including the integration of building/landlord IP network services in line with ASK4 design guidelines and best practices.
- Gather supporting documentation as required to complete detailed and accurate designs.
- Collaborate with the Pre-Sales and Project management teams during the design and delivery processes.
- Produce accurate project hardware Bill of Materials and costs.
- Produce wireless and LAN technical design documentation for implementation by the Enable Team's Delivery Engineers.
- Update designs, Bill of Materials and technical documentation throughout the lifecycle of a project, including revisions and as installed design documentation.
- Produce documentation of the LAN and wireless network that will be legible for technical and non-technical project stakeholders, whether this is internal or 3rd party clients.
- You will be working individually as well as with your wider team and other departments within the business.
- You will need to identify problems and suggest solutions to ensure projects are of a high standard.
Requirements

- Experience working with predictive wireless software is essential.
- Ekahau experience is beneficial.
- Experience with LAN and wireless technologies.
- A High standard of written and oral communication.
- Experience using Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel to a high level.
- A pragmatic approach to design and documentation, an obsessive attention to detail, and an eye for accuracy.
- The ability to prioritise workloads, work under pressure with conflicting priorities and work on your own initiative.
- The ability to communicate on both a technical and non-technical level.
- Flexibility to accommodate peaks in workload.
