Job description
Reporting direct to our GH of Design you will be responsible for the successful execution of web development projects ranging from small edits to large complex websites. Your goal is to produce excellent projects within the timescales we agree upon. You will need to continually learn about/take advantage of technological developments in the design/development environment. You will also need to collaborate effectively with our sales team, SEO team and our PPC team., * To meet a group of dynamic KPI's set out specifically for you and your role
- Code/build each project ensuring relevant tests are carried out to guarantee they function correctly
- Audit each project pre-launch
- To complete relevant checklists throughout each project
- To report your time correctly on each project once completed
- To carry out small edits to existing/old projects in a timely and organised manner so that you do not interrupt main project workflow
- Liaising with our internal teams and clients to ensure campaign/project success
Other Responsibilities:
- To write one blog post per quarter for use on the company website
- To share successes and more importantly failures with the team to aid team learning
- To document case studies on successful projects ready for publication on the company website
- To track your time each working day
Web Developer KPIs
The following KPI's need to be met in order to qualify for profit share and will be judged on the same cycle as profit share payments (at the time of writing this is every 3 months (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, Jul-Sep, Oct-Dec).
The KPI's will be self-assessed and be reported to your line manager every 3 months. You need to report them by the following dates each year:
Q1 - April 7th
Q2 - July 7th
Q3 - October 7th
Q4 - January 7th
- Deliver within Budget
80% of projects must finish within budget. This is calculated by comparing your end of job cards against project budgets.
- Billable Hours
75% of work hours must be billable. This KPI will be calculated using your timesheets and tasks marked as billable against tasks marked as non-billable.
Note - Exceptions will be made for internal projects or work that was booked in as non-billable by a Head of Dept. or Director.
- The Cherries on Top
To put the cherry on top at the end of each completed project. This means you must provide each client with more than they expect through creative added value.
Profit Share
You are eligible for Profit Share after completion of 18 months of continued service.
Profit share is discretionary, will be paid in April/July/October/January and will be judged by the following criteria:
- Company financial performance
- Team financial performance
- Meeting of your KPI's
- The contribution you make to the company culture via your calibre of your work and attitude
Requirements
Qualifications - None essential but ideally a degree that coveres web programming e.g. Web Design and Development BSc, Software engineering BSc or similar.
Experience - 1+ years Web Design or Development experince either in house or at an agency
Knowledge & Skills - Experince working with Magento. Ability to code clean symantic HTML 5. Understanding of responsive design technologies. Some knowledge of php coding and MySQL databases. Understanding of conversion rate optimisation.
Personal Qualities - Friendly. Willing to work as a team and help others. Presentable, good infront of clients and comfortable presenting their ideas and work.
Motivation and Expectations - Driven, motivated and forward thinking. Hunger to learn and improve their skillset. None
Circumstances - Ideally able to start within a month and drives a car.
