Job description
Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Manager, the Senior Mechanical Engineer will demonstrate expertise in complex product design solutions and the design definition process. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work with all engineering disciplines, to ensure designs meet customer and stakeholders' requirements (safety, functional specifications, quality, cost, schedule).
- Responsible for the creation of innovative design concepts and definition on New Product and Development projects
- Responsible for the delivery of engineering milestones across projects and components
- Support design reviews
- Supervise, check, and validate design activities and deliverables through the initial product concept creation
- Responsible for applying processes and methods for product design, and ensuring process compliance, including:
- Requirements management
- Change management
- Design optimization
- DFMEA
- Expertise in CAD tools (NX), PLM (Teamcenter)
- Robust design, design for Six Sigma, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing
- Design for manufacturing
- Design validation
- Knowledge management (lessons learnt, design guides)
- Responsible for the research and application of new technologies in support of the company technology roadmap.
Flexibility in role and a desire to develop into a broader range of engineering disciplines, structural and thermofluidic analysis, supporting departmental needs
Requirements
Do you have experience in Mechanical engineering?, * Education - HND or Higher or relevant experience
- Experience - Demonstrated expertise in the generation of innovative design solutions to complex engineering problems preferably in the Aerospace industry
- Demonstrated technical expertise in previous roles
- Expertise in CAD tools (ideally NX) and PLM (Teamcenter), * Preferably expertise in the design and definition process of complex products through the product life cycle
- Preferably experienced in the definition and execution of development test plans
- Preferably experienced in heat exchangers design and development
- Preferably experienced in development engineering or similar roles
- Preferably a good understanding of stress and thermofluidic analysis or a desire to develop into a multi-functional engineer within these disciplines
- Experience in additive manufacturing design would be advantageous
