Job description
We are looking for a Head of IT to lead the technology function at a pivotal moment in Ashbury's growth journey. Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a senior leadership role focused on using technology as a driver of business performance and shareholder value - not managing infrastructure for its own sake.
With IT infrastructure transitioning to a third-party managed service, this role is deliberately forward-looking. You will own the technology strategy, lead our Dynamics 365 transformation programme, and build the internal platforms and capabilities that power Ashbury's commercial ambitions. You will be the primary technology voice at the senior leadership table, translating complex technical decisions into clear business outcomes.
The immediate priority is the successful delivery of our Dynamics 365 implementation (under the ''Ashbury Transformation" programme), including a gated rollout across multiple major retail clients. Beyond this, you will be responsible for identifying and delivering technology initiatives that create measurable value across the business., Technology Strategy & Value Creation
- Define and own Ashbury's IT strategy, ensuring technology investment is aligned to commercial objectives and long-term shareholder value.
- Identify opportunities where technology can improve business performance, operational efficiency, and competitive differentiation.
- Act as the primary technology voice at the senior leadership table, translating technical complexity into clear business terms for non-technical
- Own the IT budget, forecasting, and vendor relationships, ensuring spend is purposeful and delivers return on investment.
Transformation & Programme Delivery
- Lead the Ashbury Transformation programme, with particular focus on the Dynamics 365 implementation and its gated rollout across key company clients.
- Oversee portfolio management across concurrent IT projects, ensuring prioritisation, resource allocation, and dependency management are handled effectively.
- Drive change management practices to ensure technology changes are adopted smoothly and deliver lasting impact across the business.
- Own the relationship with the development team and hold them to account on delivery quality and pace.
- Provide technical leadership and oversight for the software development function, including Dynamics 365 customisation, integrations, and bespoke application
Platform & Product Development
- Take ownership of Ashbury's internal technology platforms, driving continuous improvement and scalability as the business
- Lead the development and integration of systems that support client delivery, operational efficiency, and data-driven decision making.
- Ensure the technology estate is purposefully managed, with a clear roadmap for development and investment.
IT Operations & Governance
- Oversee the transition of IT infrastructure to a third-party managed service provider, ensuring continuity of service and a smooth handover.
- Establish and embed IT governance frameworks, delivery standards, and reporting that give the CFO and SLT confidence in progress and
- Manage cybersecurity posture and ensure compliance with relevant data protection and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure service levels are maintained throughout and beyond the infrastructure
People & Team Development
- Lead, manage, and develop a team of 7, setting clear objectives, providing coaching, and building individual and collective capability.
- Create a high-performing team culture with clear ownership, accountability, and ways of working that scale with the business.
- Identify skills gaps and strengthen the team in line with the business's evolving technology needs.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement and close collaboration between IT and the wider business.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Power BI?, * 2+ years in a senior IT leadership role, with a demonstrable track record of using technology to deliver business value - not just operational stability.

Strong commercial acumen, with the ability to align technology investment to business outcomes and articulate ROI to senior stakeholders.

Hands-on experience managing complex delivery landscapes, including critical technical dependencies, cross-system integrations, data flows, and multi-workstream

Strong technical understanding of software delivery, including modern delivery practices (e.g. Agile/ hybrid models), environments, release management, data migration, integrations, and configuration vs custom development.

Comfortable working closely with engineers, architects, and BAs - able to get into the detail to unblock delivery when needed.

Technically fluent communicator, able to engage credibly with development teams while translating complex technical concepts, risks, and trade-offs into clear, actionable language for non-technical senior stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and ideally Power Platform, including Power BI reporting and dashboards.
- Experience managing or overseeing a transition to a third-party managed service
