Level: Starter / Junior / Early-career Test embedded software that actually moves trucks At V.S.E., you test embedded software for advanced steering and suspension systems in trucks and other heavy vehicles. You work on the interaction between software, electronics, inputs, outputs, and system behaviour. This role is a strong opportunity for a starter or junior engineer who wants more than standard application testing. You will join a specialised R&D environment where software and hardware come together in real vehicle systems. Why this role is different This is not a standard QA role focused on business software, web applications, or scripted testing. At V.S.E., you analyse how embedded software behaves within vehicle systems and how inputs affect outputs under real conditions. What makes this role stand out: you test embedded software with real technical impact you work on truck and vehicle systems, not standard software products you combine software testing with hardware, ECUs, and system-level behaviour you work in a multidisciplinary R&D environment with software engineers and project teams you can grow into areas such as automation, simulation, or regression testing What you will do After onboarding, you will be responsible for integration and functional testing of embedded software within R&D projects. Your main responsibilities are: analysing requirements and turning them into clear, traceable test cases executing integration and functional tests on software, hardware, ECUs, and test setups analysing, documenting, and reporting test results in a clear and reproducible way reporting and tracking defects, reproducing field issues, and supporting root cause analysis maintaining test cases and contributing to smarter ways of testing, including automation
Requirements
We are open to starters and junior candidates. Testing experience is helpful, but not essential. What matters most is how you think and how accurately you work. Must-haves HBO or WO level in a relevant technical field strong analytical skills and a structured way of working affinity with embedded software and systems in which software and hardware interact the ability to document clearly and work with precision good command of English Nice to have experience with embedded systems, ECUs, or microcontrollers experience with software development or the ability to read and write code familiarity with Python, test automation, C, CAN, or Matlab/Simulink some understanding of hardware behaviour Dutch and/or German language skills
