Job description
You will be responsible for designing accessible, user-centred digital interactions that meet user needs and business goals. Working closely with user researchers, service designers, developers, and stakeholders, you will help shape and deliver high-quality digital services. Key Responsibilities
- Designing user journeys, task flows, and interaction patterns for complex digital services
- Creating wireframes, prototypes, and design specifications to communicate ideas clearly
- Collaborating with user researchers to incorporate insights into design decisions
- Working closely with developers to ensure designs are feasible and implemented effectively
- Applying GDS design principles and contributing to design systems and pattern libraries
- Ensuring designs meet accessibility and usability standards (eg WCAG)
- Iterating designs based on user feedback, testing, and stakeholder input
- Communicating design decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences
Requirements
We are seeking an experienced Interaction Designer with active SC clearance to support a Central Government department on a major digital programme. This role is ideal for someone with strong interaction design expertise, a passion for creating intuitive digital experiences, and experience working within GDS standards., * Proven experience as an Interaction Designer, UX Designer, or similar role
- Active SC clearance
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centred design and interaction design expertise
- Experience creating wireframes, prototypes, and user flows
- Familiarity with design tools (eg Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
- Strong understanding of accessibility and usability principles
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Experience working within government or regulated environments
- Familiarity with GDS standards and digital service frameworks
Nice to Have:
- Experience contributing to or working with design systems
- Knowledge of Front End technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)
- Experience in agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams
- Exposure to service design or wider digital transformation programmes
