Job description

  • Design, build, and support scalable backend and streaming data solutions that power trusted, mastered data products used across analytics, business intelligence, and AI applications
  • Design and develop high-throughput streaming data pipelines for large-scale, near real-time data processing
  • Implement and maintain data mastering services that link and consolidate records into a trusted, single source of truth
  • Build resilient and reliable services that meet defined standards for performance, fault tolerance, data quality, and operational stability
  • Create and maintain unit, integration, and contract tests to ensure correctness and long-term maintainability of systems
  • Collaborate with product managers and senior engineers to contribute to solution design and deliver features from development through deployment
  • Partner with DevOps, Quality Assurance, and Operations teams to ensure systems are deployable, testable, observable, and well-supported in production environments
  • Work with a modern streaming technology stack, primarily using Java, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, and MongoDB

About the Team

The Data Estate Engineering team drives the design, build, and operation of Moody's Analytics' next-generation data pipeline. The team's mission is to deliver high-quality, timely data by leveraging modern, industry-standard technologies and collaborating closely with teams across the business This role sits within the Data Mastering Platform team, which develops core pipelines that link and consolidate records into high-quality, mastered entity datasets. These datasets are published for downstream analytics, business intelligence, and artificial intelligence applications, forming a critical foundation for data-driven decision-making across Moody's

Requirements

Do you have a Master's degree?, * 2-6 years of professional software development experience, required to contribute to the design, build, and support of backend and data processing systems in a production environment

  • Strong programming skills in ideally Java or another modern object-oriented backend language, required to build reliable, maintainable, and scalable services
  • Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including testing strategies, version control, and continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), required to support high-quality software delivery
  • Experience working with distributed systems or data processing platforms, including high-volume or streaming data flows is preferred
  • Familiarity with modern backend and data technologies, such as Spring Boot, Apache Kafka, Apache Flink, NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Proactive problem-solving mindset and strong attention to detail, with a commitment to system stability, performance, reliability, and data quality, and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Awareness of responsible AI principles and ethical use of technology, with an understanding of how high-quality, well-governed data underpins analytics and AI-driven solutions
  • Interest in working with data platforms that support downstream analytics and AI use cases, with openness to learning how data engineering practices enable machine learning and intelligent systems, * Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field (Master's degree preferred)
