Job description
We're looking for a Technology Development Manager to lead the development of our CCTV technology infrastructure, software platforms and secure internal network solutions. Based from our Derby Raynesway main office (with home-based working), you'll play a key role in shaping how our CCTV, security technology and AI-driven systems evolve across the business. You'll help drive the expansion of our CCTV Control Room capabilities, support the integration of Artificial Intelligence across multiple platforms, and ensure that our internal secure network continues to develop in line with operational needs. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands-on technical problem-solving, forward-thinking innovation, and working collaboratively with teams across the business. What you'll be doing

Leading the development of internal CCTV and security network solutions, including 4G/5G infrastructure, AWS cloud connections and fault-tolerant networking.

Supporting the Balfour Beatty CCTV Control Room and contributing to the expansion of monitoring capabilities.

Providing immediate technical support to resolve issues, faults and system failures across control rooms, engineering teams and security technologies.

Working closely with Control Room Managers and Operators, offering daily technical advice, training, process development and support for 24/7 monitoring operations.

Creating and delivering training materials, including documents, videos and hands-on sessions.

Assisting Installation and Service Engineers with setup, maintenance, compatibility checks, system faults and the introduction of new equipment.

Supporting system procurement, research, product testing and development of new solutions.

Advising Security Managers, Advisors and Designers on system capabilities, limitations, and technology that best meets security requirements.

Developing and supporting integrated ARC and VMS solutions, incorporating intruder alarms, intercoms, ANPR and other security disciplines.

Managing Peplink InControl accounts and collaborating with manufacturers to develop network-ready products.

Overseeing and supporting all CCTV-related equipment, including servers, NVRs, NAS devices, PCs, monitors, switches, routers and smart wall systems.

Ensuring solutions comply with regulatory standards, cybersecurity requirements and internal technical expectations.
Requirements

Strong technical expertise in CCTV systems, networking, hardware and software infrastructures.

Experience integrating AI technologies or machine-learning-based security features.

Solid understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure system design.

Ability to design scalable solutions across a range of network equipment and platforms.

Effective communicator able to work with cross-functional teams, contractors and senior stakeholders.

Skilled at diagnosing complex technical issues and delivering reliable, well-designed solutions.

Experience engaging with vendors, supporting procurement and managing technical relationships.

Strong risk-management mindset with an ability to evaluate vulnerabilities and system reliability.

Confident delivering training and supporting teams to ensure systems are used correctly and effectively.

Adaptable, innovative and comfortable working with emerging technologies in a fast-moving environment.
