Job description
The life cycle of an aircraft programme is characterised in particular by the implementation of development and certification tests, but also, beforehand, by R&T activities.
These tests vary throughout the test campaign, from the ground integration test campaign to flight tests.
In order to carry out flight tests, we need to instrument our aircraft with specific flight test means, different in-service aircraft configurations.
We fulfill this mission through a multinational department spread across four sites (Toulouse, Filton, Hamburg and Bremen) and we build cooperation with the other Airbus divisions.
In order to reinforce and support these activities, a position as a flight test means architect has just been created at the Flight Test Centre within the Airbus (Commercial Aircraft) Division in Toulouse.

Your future challenges ?
- Collect, understand and challenge (if needed) the needs expressed by testers or pilots in order to translate them into appropriate technical solutions
- Propose and lead new technical solutions that comply with requirements, regulations, safety aspects in force for flight test means
- Ensure a closed collaboration with Project Managers on proposed architecture costing & schedule
- Define the architectures to be implemented and share them with stakeholders in order to launch steps of electrical/mechanical design, development of specific instrumentations (hardware, software, equipment…)
- Raise early technical risks & arbitrate trades
- Specify the development of necessary equipment that is missing or obsolete
- Support designers if necessary in the creation of electrical plans and harnesses associated with this architecture
- Provide support for integration activities
Requirements
- General Engineering's degree level (or equivalent) in Aeronautical Engineering
- Good knowledge and experience in flight test instrumentation
- Knowledge of avionics systems and configuration management would be a plus
- Ability to negotiate and give presentations (advanced level) in both French and English
- Experience as a flight test means architect would be a plus
- Team spirit, autonomy, rigour, good communication skills, adaptability and flexibility
