Security Cleared Cloud/Infrastructure Engineer - Milton Keynes - Outside IR35

The Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure and scalable cloud infrastructure across AWS and Microsoft Azure environments. The role focuses on Infrastructure as Code (laC), automation, and platform reliability, ensuring that cloud services are deployed consistently, securely, and in line with organisational standards.

The position also supports modern endpoint and virtual desktop platforms, including Azure Virtual Desktop and device management through Microsoft Intune.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the Cloud Engineer collaborates with developers, testers, and security specialists to deliver resilient cloud platforms that support mission-critical services.

Cloud Infrastructure Engineering

• Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure within AWS and Microsoft Azure environments.
• Develop and manage Infrastructure as Code (laC) using Terraform to ensure consistent and repeatable deployments.
• Write automation and tooling using Python to support AWS infrastructure and operational tasks.

Automation and CI/CD

• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure provisioning and application deployment.
• Integrate automated testing and validation into infrastructure pipelines to ensure reliability and compliance.

Virtual Desktop and Endpoint Management

• Support and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure using Azure Virtual Desktop.
• Assist in the configuration and management of enterprise device policies and endpoint management using Microsoft Intune.
• Contribute to secure endpoint and remote access solutions within the cloud platform.

Operational Support

• Perform daily operational checks across cloud environments to ensure system health, availability, and performance.
• Investigate and resolve infrastructure issues, supporting service stability and operational resilience.

Security and Compliance

• Support penetration testing activities by assisting with infrastructure preparation, remediation, and security improvements.
• Implement secure configuration and best practices across cloud services.

Collaboration and Quality Assurance

• Work closely with testing teams to define and support test plans for infrastructure and platform components.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and delivery teams to ensure infrastructure aligns with organisational standards and security requirements.

• Proven expertise in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Strong experience with AWS and Microsoft Azure cloud platforms.
• Programming experience with Python for automation and cloud tooling.
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience supporting Azure Virtual Desktop environments.
• Experience configuring and managing endpoint policies through Microsoft Intune.
• Understanding of cloud security principles and best practices.
• Experience supporting operational monitoring and troubleshooting in cloud environments.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with testing and security teams.
