As an Engineering Manager within our Logistics Department, you will lead the Courier Scheduling team in building the automated engines that power our global delivery network. Your mission is to ensure we have the right courier capacity exactly when and where it's needed, through high-scale solutions that minimize manual intervention. You will champion a people-centric approach, ensuring that whether a courier is employed or freelance, our scheduling logic remains transparent, compliant, and fair. We are seeking a leader who is eager to master the complexities of the scheduling domain and translate deep technical insights into world-class logistics solutions.
In short, you'll combine your Software Engineering knowledge with the skills of a well-organised Tech Manager. You will lead a high-performing team using a modern tech stack, applying Domain-Driven Design and Event-Driven Architecture, while focusing on automating tedious tasks to build a great product.
As a mentor and team builder, you will need to motivate and inspire your colleagues, helping them develop their skills and drive the growth of our platform.
These are some of the key components to the position:
- Coach, motivate and inspire a cross-functional Agile team of 6-8 team members.
- Develop cutting-edge, scalable, flexible and high-performing systems
- Work closely with the Product Manager and the team to prioritise and deliver initiatives and projects
- Support the Product Manager with stakeholder management and major software releases.
- Work with the team to optimise the Agile Processes and ensure the team has all the tools to express its full potential
- Contribute to our growth by helping recruit, interview and onboard new starters.
- Collaborate with other Technology Managers to share best practices and knowledge.
- Lead or support the team's cross-team projects.
- Support the team in defining the technical vision, ensuring tech debt is addressed regularly, and maintaining the right balance between BAU and experimentation.
- Hands-on work with the code is possible but not required for the role.
What will you bring to the team?
- 5+ years as a Software Developer, with at least 1 year of experience leading a team of 4+ direct reports.
- Able to build a positive team environment where people feel valued and supported.
- A strong knowledge and understanding of Node.js is required.
- Experience with Java and Spring Boot is a plus.
- A good understanding of Microservices, Docker, Kubernetes and Event-Driven Architecture is required. Experience with Apache Kafka is a plus.
- Previous experience with Domain-Driven Design is not required, but a plus.
- Proficient in understanding clean coding principles.
- A deep understanding of agentic AI coding tools (such as Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or Claude Code) is required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead a team in an AI-augmented environment, ensuring repositories and workflows are optimized for agentic collaboration.
- The ability to foster collaboration over competition, connections over compliance, and trust over fear.
- Can empower the team to deliver remarkable outcomes with inclusive decision-making, without relying on micromanagement.
- Confident in collaborating and communicating with non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent English (written & spoken) and good communication skills.
