Are you an experienced Network Installation or Exchange Engineer looking to join one of the UK's most exciting large-scale fibre deployment programmes? Our client - a rapidly growing technology provider - is rolling out next-generation dark fibre infrastructure across major UK cities, and we are supporting their search for skilled engineers to join their field-based delivery team.
This role is perfect for engineers with a strong background in BT Exchanges, datacentres, telecoms infrastructure, fibre installation, and commissioning.
The Role
As a Network Installation Engineer, you'll be responsible for the installation, configuration, and commissioning of core network infrastructure within BT Exchanges and datacentres, delivering dark fibre circuits through to live service.
You'll work hands-on with fibre infrastructure, patching, testing and validating circuits, ensuring installations are delivered safely, accurately, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Installation & Commissioning
- Install, configure and patch core network equipment as part of a national dark fibre rollout.
- Work inside BT Exchanges and datacentre environments following method statements and technical documentation.
- Deliver end-to-end dark fibre circuits through to service handover.
Fibre & Infrastructure
- Conduct fibre inspections, patching, and testing (continuity, errors, length, loss).
- Diagnose and rectify on-site fibre faults.
- Ensure high-quality fibre labelling, management and housekeeping.
Operations & Delivery
- Complete installation, commissioning and test documentation accurately.
- Carry out detailed site surveys and produce clear, structured reports.
- Liaise with PMs, NOC, and third-party suppliers.
- Maintain tools, PPE, and manage vehicle stock.
Requirements

Proven experience in network installation/commissioning within telecoms, ISP or infrastructure environments.

Hands-on experience working in BT Exchanges.

Solid understanding of fibre optics, loss budgets, and signal integrity.

Fibre patching, cabling, labelling & management

Fibre documentation & schematic interpretation
Familiarity with carrier-grade hardware such as Edgecore, Opengear, APC, MikroTik.
A proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently across changing field locations.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
