This is a senior strategic role at the heart of LCCA's data, planning and performance agenda.

As Head of Business Intelligence, Data Analytics & Reporting, you will lead the development and delivery of business intelligence solutions that support evidence-based decision-making across the College. You will shape the institution's data strategy, champion best practice, and foster a culture of data literacy and collaboration.

Your input will be pivotal in building a talented team of analysts, data scientists, engineers, and BI developers, ensuring that insight services continually evolve to meet institutional needs. Working closely with the Academic Registrar, senior leadership teams, and academic schools, you will ensure that data and insight inform strategic planning, forecasting, and operational decision-making.

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

Leadership and Data Governance

  • Develop and implement LCCA's data strategy, including institution-wide data definitions and governance frameworks.
  • Champion data quality, records management, and alignment with regulatory standards (e.g. OfS, HESA).
  • Align data projects to institutional priorities and maintain a single source of truth.
  • Lead the design and delivery of dashboards, semantic data models, and business intelligence solutions using Power BI and other tools.

Business Intelligence and Reporting

  • Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor and report on College KPIs.
  • Provide complex analysis of performance indicators, including OfS metrics, National Student Survey results, and league table publications.
  • Support decision-making with intuitive data visualisations, scenario planning, and benchmarking.

Stakeholder Engagement and Collaboration

  • Build strong relationships with academic schools, professional services, and cross-departmental teams including IT, Finance, HR, and Registry.
  • Translate complex data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for a range of stakeholders.
  • Understand user requirements to deliver intuitive and accessible dashboards.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of analysts and data professionals.
  • Foster professional growth, collaboration, and wellbeing within the team.

Service Delivery and Support

  • Produce insight and reporting to support operational planning and strategic initiatives.
  • Identify and resolve data quality issues, providing guidance and training to staff as required.
  • Ensure that all reports, dashboards, and analyses are reliable, trusted, and appropriately caveated.

Essential

  • Graduate calibre with a degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience leading or managing a data insight, analytics, or performance function, ideally within higher education or a complex organisation.
  • Skilled in shaping and delivering insight services that support planning, forecasting, performance management, and strategic decision-making.
  • Strong experience engaging senior stakeholders to define requirements, prioritise activity, and embed consistent reporting.
  • Proficiency with BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Alteryx) and modern data platforms including cloud-based architectures (e.g., AWS).

Skills & Attributes

  • Strategic and commercial thinker with the ability to navigate complexity and connect insight to institutional priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; able to synthesize information, identify patterns, and translate analysis into actionable insight.
  • Ability to interpret data in context, combining quantitative evidence with sector knowledge to explain drivers, risks, and implications.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills; able to present insight compellingly to senior leaders and governance forums.
  • Strong judgement regarding data quality, reliability, and responsible use of insight.
  • Skilled at coaching and supporting leaders to use evidence effectively and role-model data-driven decision-making.
