Job description
As a Technical Architect, you are a member of the UK Architecture team, reporting to the Chief Architect. This is a highly strategic and impactful role within Ekco that bridges the gap between conceptual design and hands-on execution.
You will act as a designer of Ekco UK's standardised Reference Architectures while serving as a technical leader for Technical Design Authority and Technical Standards. Your role is also critical in the delivery of strategic transformation projects selected by the Senior Leadership Team to deliver significant business value.
Responsibilities
Technical Architecture & Governance
The team is responsible for the technical architecture of our products.

Reference Architecture Creation: Design, document, and maintain the definitive master technical blueprints for all products and services in the Ekco UK portfolio.

Technical Design Authority: Act as the final approval gate for all new technical architectures, ensuring they are supportable, scalable, secure, and aligned with our long-term technical strategy.

Technology Standards & Selection: Define, and in conjunction with Service Delivery, govern the core technologies and components that form our standardised building blocks.
Transformation Project Delivery
The team assists the Ekco UK business by delivering projects in the following areas:

Datacenter Consolidation: Assist the Group Platform Team with the architecture, planning and execution of datacenter migration projects.

Hypervisor Migration: Assist the Group Platform Team with the architecture, planning and execution of VMware to Hyper-V migration projects.

Public Cloud Migration: Assist the Professional Services teams with the architecture, planning and execution of private cloud to Azure migration projects.

Internal M365 Tenant Migration: Assist the Group Internal Support team with the architecture, planning and execution of migrations of Ekco acquisitions into the primary Ekco Microsoft 365 tenant.
Requirements
Do you have experience in Virtualization?, * Extensive MSP Experience: Deep understanding of the Managed Service Provider model, multi-tenant architectures, and the commercial impact of technical design decisions.
- Architectural Mindset: Proven ability to transition from reactive problem-solving to proactive architectural design. Experience creating high-level and low-level design documentation (HLD/LLD).
- Cloud & Virtualisation: Expert-level knowledge of Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, AVD, Azure Arc), Hyper-V, and legacy hypervisors/VDI (VMware, Citrix).
- Platform Migration: Track record of executing complex datacenter migrations, cloud adoptions, or integrating IT systems following company acquisitions.
- Automation: Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Terraform).
- Communication & Leadership: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and to provide clear, authoritative guidance to operational engineering teams.
