Job description
We're looking for a Systems Design Engineer to become a driving force within the Fairline design team in Oundle, Northamptonshire. This is more than just a role-it's a chance to influence the future of world-class yacht design and manufacture.
As a key member of the team, you'll play a pivotal role in designing onboard systems, ensuring they are not only high-performing and efficient, but also safe, compliant, and seamlessly integrated. You'll collaborate closely with leading suppliers and external naval architects, making a real impact on every vessel that leaves the yard.
What you'll be doing
- Designing and integrating critical onboard systems across luxury yachts.
- Aiding the design installation and optimisation of propulsion and powertrain systems.
- Overseeing fuel, water, and hydraulic system integration.
- Specifying and integrating HVAC systems to enhance onboard comfort.
- Performing engine ventilation calculations where necessary, to ensure performance and compliance.
- Selecting key equipment, including generators, pumps, lift mechanisms, fire suppression, and other mechanical systems.
- Supporting small component composite structure design where required.
- Assisting weight management and tracking.
- Acting as a key technical liaison with suppliers and naval architecture partners
- Attending key supplier visits and tradeshows where required.
- Supporting certification and supplier type approval sea trials for 1st off new builds.
Requirements
Do you have a valid Driving License license?, Do you have experience in Systems engineering?, * Experience using Siemens NX or a comparable 3D CAD software package.
- A strong systems engineering mindset with attention to detail.
- Confidence working across multiple disciplines and external partners, whilst being key point of contact between our Prototype and Production teams.
- A passion for innovation, quality, and marine engineering.
