Job description
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in delivering and supporting the through-life technical delivery of specialist Test & Evaluation equipment and facilities across MOD Land Ranges in the UK. This role ensures that complex systems operate safely, efficiently and meet the high standards required for national defence capability. Day-to-day, you'll lead and contribute to multidisciplinary projects, working on system upgrades, integration, testing and acceptance of facilities, vehicles, control, surveillance and data systems. You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders, mentor junior engineers, support technical assurance, and contribute to the development of best practice across the team. Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead the technical delivery of Test & Evaluation projects/work packages to time, cost and quality
- Deliver systems engineering outputs across the project lifecycle including proposals, requirements, integration, test and transition into service
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to refine requirements, identify solutions and manage technical risk
- Plan and oversee integration, installation and acceptance activities including IT, Safety and Security systems
- Produce supplier Statements of Work, tender documents and acceptance criteria
- Mentor junior engineers and support capability growth
Requirements
Essential experience of the Senior Systems Engineer:
- Proven experience leading multidisciplinary systems engineering projects
- Experience delivering systems in safety-critical or regulated environments
- Experience producing technical artefacts, requirements and delivering certified outcomes
- Ability to manage stakeholders and technical delivery across complex programmes
- Experience in integration, testing, and transition into service of complex systems
- Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle and engineering governance, * Degree-level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Civil)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent professional status
