We are a specialist recruitment agency partnering with a prestigious UK-based consultancy renowned for delivering large-scale, mission-critical data centre projects across the UK and Europe.As their project portfolio grows, we are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer with strong leadership skills in either Electrical or Mechanical disciplines. This is an exceptional opportunity to lead at a strategic level, shaping the delivery of world-class hyperscale, colocation, and bespoke data centre solutions.Who We're Looking ForWe want to hear from Principal-level Electrical or Mechanical Engineers with extensive experience driving multi-disciplinary design teams and complex data centre projects across UK and European markets.You will be a key figure in project strategy and delivery excellence, ensuring technical leadership, client satisfaction, and the highest standards in engineering design and coordination.Key Responsibilities (Depending on Discipline)For Electrical Engineers:Provide strategic leadership on electrical design for hyperscale and colocation data centres across the UK and EuropeOversee high-level power distribution designs including UPS, switchgear, generators, and standby power systemsLead development of design standards, quality assurance, and compliance across projectsFoster innovation and adoption of emerging technologies in electrical infrastructureAct as a senior client advisor on electrical systems and project feasibilityFor Mechanical Engineers:Lead mechanical design strategy for HVAC, cooling, and environmental control systems on large data centre projectsDrive innovation in cooling and energy efficiency solutions tailored to hyperscale and colocation requirementsEstablish design frameworks, standards, and best practices across the consultancyManage high-level stakeholder relationships including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodiesMentor and develop senior engineers and technical leadsFor Both Roles:Lead multi-disciplinary design teams to ensure seamless integration of electrical and mechanical systemsOversee project delivery, risk management, and compliance with UK and international standards (BS, IEC, ASHRAE, CIBSE, NFPA)Engage in business development and bid strategy to secure new data centre projectsRepresent the consultancy at industry events and foster client relationships across UK and EuropeChampion professional development and knowledge sharing within the engineering teamsRequirementsDegree-qualified in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (or Building Services)12+ years' progressive experience in engineering with at least 5 years in a principal or senior leadership roleProven track record of delivering complex hyperscale, colocation, or mission-critical data centre projects across UK and EuropeDeep technical expertise in your core discipline with strong cross-discipline collaboration skillsChartered Engineer status (CEng) essentialExceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skillsExperience, RF Layout Engineer | GaN / Compound Semiconductors | SC-EligibleNorth East England | On-site - | Competitive + Bonus + RelocationWe are looking for people with electronics and CAD knowledge who are interested in moving into RF layout and design OR direct RF layout...
