Job description
- We require Pedestrian Modellers who can undertake hands-on modelling, covering all aspects from processing demand through building models, undertaking analysis and compiling reports.
- You will attend project meetings with key stakeholders and clients, supporting more-senior staff within the team, as a way to learn and develop future consulting skills.
- As part of your typical day-to-day activities, you will have the chance to interface with other disciplines in order to obtain latest design and operational inputs as well as to inform them of pedestrian modelling and other outputs from our work. As a result, you will broaden your knowledge and understanding of multiple technical sectors with whom we interface.
- As you progress, you may be asked to input into and manage the scope and programme for smaller projects, monitoring financials and progress on an ongoing basis, or parts of larger projects, directed and supported by a Project Manager.
- As we expand our portfolio of service offerings, we are also interested in people with good GIS skills as well as data analytics who are also interested in learning pedestrian modelling., * In addition to delivering project work, this role offers an opportunity for those wishing to develop wider skills in the coming years, such as:
- Business Development - networking with WSP colleagues in the UK and overseas; contributing to marketing material - noting this is not essential, but for those interested there is a path for participation and development
- Researching new technologies and trends in people movement data capture and analytics
- Staff coaching / training - for those with an interest and aptitude for this side of our work, we will offer opportunities and encourage development in this area, as it is a vital part of creating, retaining and growing a strong team for the future

Requirements
- Pedestrian modelling skills - particularly Bentley Legion - but experience in PTV VisWalk, MassMotion or CAST would be particularly advantageous. Complementary (but not essential) software skills could include Pathfinder, VISSIM, S-Paramics, AIMSUM, ArcGIS, Power BI, coding in any language.
- Experience of completing pedestrian modelling projects to a high standard with an understanding of client/project goals and objectives and how your work helped to achieve them., * An undergraduate degree in a numerate, transport or planning-related discipline (such as geography)
- Communication skills with experience of communicating ideas to a non-technical audience - through written reports or formal presentations.
- Strong analytical/critical thinker able to interpret numerical results and extract understanding
- Any other Transport Planning experience within a commercial environment may be beneficial - for example supporting Development Planning applications through Transport Assessments. Similarly, knowledge of particular sectors (e.g. Airports, Sports/Event Management) could bring advantages to the team
