Hays are now looking for a Ruby Developer for one of our local clients: Rate: Circa £450 p/d Inside IR35 Hybrid: 1-2 days a week in Bath, rest is WFH Duration: 6 month+ contract
Overview
A highly skilled Ruby Developer is required to support a small, fast-paced digital development team working on a bespoke Ruby-based technical environment. This role involves leading development tasks, contributing to technical strategy, and quickly getting up to speed with complex systems and infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Ruby-based development tasks with minimal oversight
- Work within Agile teams using standard development tools and workflows (e.g., GitLab, Jira)
- Provide technical guidance on development approach and infrastructure
- Contribute to digital projects and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders
- Deliver high-quality, maintainable code within agreed timelines
Skills & Experience
- Extensive experience in Ruby development with demonstrable portfolio
- Strong understanding of Ruby-based content management systems (experience with Typecase beneficial but not essential)
- Ability to quickly understand and work within complex digital environments
- Experience working in Agile settings
- Strong problem-solving skills and proactive communication style
- Experience working within large, structured organisations nice to have
- Familiarity with digital development in education or public-sector environments nice to have
