Job description
- Design and build stunning, user-friendly dashboards and reports that people actually use in their day-to-day work;
- Evaluate, design, and optimize data models, ensuring they are clean, scalable, and fit for purpose;
- Work hands-on with SQL and DBT to transform and prepare data for reporting;
- Develop a clear point of view on what separates great BI from mediocre BI, and bring that vision to every project;
- Coach and mentor colleagues and clients on dashboard design, data modeling, and BI best practices;
- Prototype lightweight interfaces and apps using low-code / no-code tools (think Power Apps, Lovable, Streamlit, or similar) when a full dashboard isn't the right answer;
- Collaborate closely with data engineers and data scientists to ensure the full data chain delivers value;
- Translate complex business questions into clear, visual stories;
- Champion UI/UX principles within the team, pushing for dashboards that are intuitive, beautiful, and built for adoption.
Requirements
As a Senior BI Developer, you are the person who bridges the gap between raw data and real insight. You don't just build dashboards; you craft experiences. You know what makes a data model work and what makes it silently break at scale. You have strong opinions on layout, color, whitespace, and interaction design, and you can back them up. Most importantly, you lift the people around you: coaching colleagues and clients to raise the bar on everything they ship.
In your role, you will combine a designer's eye with an engineer's rigor and a consultant's ability to challenge the status quo., * Proven expertise in Power BI, with a portfolio or examples that speak for themselves;
- Strong command of SQL and experience with dbt or similar transformation frameworks;
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques and the ability to assess model quality critically;
- A genuine eye for design, layout, and user experience in the context of data visualization;
- Experience coaching or mentoring others, whether colleagues, junior profiles, or client teams;
- The ability to think beyond the dashboard: knowing when a lightweight app, a simple spreadsheet, or a different format serves the user better;
- You are fluent in English.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with other BI/visualization tools (Looker, Tableau, Qlik);
- Familiarity with low-code / no-code platforms (Power Apps, Lovable, Retool, Streamlit);
- Knowledge of cloud tools such as Databricks, Google Cloud, Azure, AWS...
- Experience working in a consultancy or client-facing environment;
- Speaking Dutch is a definite plus. French is also nice to have.
Above all, you should have a sharp opinion on what makes reporting work in practice, the persistence to get the details right, and the generosity to make the people around you better at what they do.
