Job description

This is a hands-on backend development role for someone ready to take on real ownership of meaningful work. You'll be joining a close-knit development team at an exciting point in RDC's journey, working across our modern .NET codebase, contributing to products used by some of the biggest names in aviation, and benefiting from strong technical leadership and clear direction from day one.

There is real scope here for the right person to grow - deepening their technical expertise and becoming an increasingly valued member of the team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in their work, communicates openly, and is genuinely motivated to keep improving.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Designing and building high-quality, maintainable C#/.NET solutions across our modern codebase.
  • Working closely with the development team on day-to-day delivery, architectural decisions, and best practice.
  • Participating in code reviews: both giving and receiving constructive feedback as part of a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Contributing actively to Scrum ceremonies: sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews and retrospectives.
  • Supporting the stability, performance and security of our Azure-hosted services.
  • Identifying and flagging technical issues, blockers and areas of technical debt clearly and promptly.
  • Engaging with product and wider business stakeholders to ensure solutions are well-understood and fit for purpose.

Requirements

We don't expect anyone to tick every box here. If you have solid .NET experience and most of the background below, we'd love to hear from you.

  • Solid commercial C#/.NET experience, with at least two years in a professional development environment.
  • Confident building and consuming RESTful APIs, alongside a solid understanding of software design principles such as SOLID and clean architecture.
  • Familiarity with Azure: whether that's App Services, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps, or similar.
  • A working knowledge of SQL Server and relational database design.
  • An awareness of how AI tooling is changing software development, and a willingness to embrace and apply it in your day to day work.
  • Clear, confident communication: able to ask good questions, flag blockers early, and collaborate effectively within a Scrum or Agile framework.
  • A commitment to quality in everything you deliver, combined with the pragmatism to keep things moving.

Other Useful Experience

  • Azure API Management or other Azure PaaS experience.
  • MongoDB or Snowflake.
  • OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect.
  • Any background in aviation, data platforms, or enterprise SaaS is useful, but not something we'd rule anyone out over.
