We're currently working with a growing, tech-driven business in Halifax that's looking to hire a PHP Backend Developer to support the continued development of their internal platforms.
This is a great opportunity for someone who wants more than just a ticket-driven role - you'll have the chance to contribute ideas, influence systems, and work across multiple products in a fast-moving environment.
The Role You'll be joining a small but experienced team, helping to scale and improve a suite of bespoke systems used both internally and by external partners.
Day to day, you'll be:
- Building and enhancing features across multiple platforms
- Working on a mix of new development, improvements, and some bug fixing
- Collaborating closely with the team to identify opportunities for optimisation
- Contributing ideas around system improvements and future direction
- Getting exposure to a variety of systems rather than a single product

Requirements

Tech Stack Essential:
- PHP
- Laravel
- Backend-focused development
Nice to have:
- Vue.js or other frontend frameworks
- Experience working across multiple systems or products
- AWS or cloud exposure
- Understanding of system architecture
Security Awareness A strong awareness of application security is important - this isn't about textbook answers, but practical understanding and good judgement when building systems.
AI & Innovation There's a real opportunity here for someone interested in AI and emerging technologies.
If you're already using AI tools in your workflow or have ideas on how they can improve systems and processes, this will be a big advantage.
