Job description

This role is an exciting opportunity to provide support and help manage the service desk function, infrastructure, reports and associated setup at Howells sites. This includes networking, telecommunications, Intune, Entra, Azure, Servers and Active Directory.

What you'll be responsible for:

  • Help implement requests for various IT requests and tasks including device setup, server, data analysis, Microsoft cloud and infrastructure requirements.
  • Maintain existing systems which include service desk calls, IT maintenance functions, infrastructure and IT cloud services.
  • Provide IT helpdesk, software, applications and hardware support to IT customers.
  • Where necessary, provide support and help diagnose issues relating to our WAN, LAN, Routers, Firewalls, Servers and other IT hardware (including PCs, Phones, Tablets, Scanners, etc.)
  • Set up, install, implement, update appropriate software and hardware including corporate applications, desktop applications, PCs, Phones, Tablets, Scanners, etc.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure any business-critical IT issues are effectively resolved.
  • Support with ad-hoc urgent system / IT issues as needed.
  • Maintain excellent record keeping, organisation, planning of IT projects.
  • Ensure documentation and asset information is maintained to a very high standard.
  • Ensure all IT areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Travel to and work from sites as required.
  • Liaise with internal/external customers and tenants to resolve problems, help work on projects and provide appropriate updates.
  • Help develop IT processes and system guides to help users manage the business delivery more easily and efficiently.
  • Keep up to date with developments in IT.
  • Any other duties commensurate with this post or as instructed by the Head of department.

Requirements

  • Full UK Driver license and access to a car for travelling to and working at other sites throughout the week.
  • Bachelor's Degree in an IT or Computer Science (or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • Experience with providing first and second line support is preferable.
  • Understanding of infrastructure set ups.
  • Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office and Office 365 / Azure / Entra / Active Directory.
  • Understanding of the requirements of a helpdesk and PC / Mobile Device Support role.
  • Willingness to work with, diagnose problems with and install various software packages.
  • Experience in a role dealing with users, multiple systems and services.
  • Understanding of resolving first/second line issues with ERP, Content Management, eCommerce, Web, Wi-Fi and telephony systems (or similar) to include back-end support.
  • Experience in helping with the analysis, set-up and implementation of IT infrastructure and maintenance.
  • Good understanding of computer systems (hardware/software) and networks.
  • Good organisational and technical skills
  • Confident in handling queries, request and calls from all colleagues and tenants.
  • Self-motivated, proactive and hard working.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal at all levels.
  • Excellent general IT skills, with the ability to quickly learn and adapt to new systems.
  • A strong team player.
